They really should look to Canada and especially Montreal and Quebec City. Both are less than 6 hours away and usually have a few decent prospects each year. I know Dan at 1 time was interested in a PG in Montreal, he is now playing at Huntington Prep but Dan has had him on his radar since the end of 2015.

It's nearly UAB-FSU time. I hope everyone on this board had a good Thanksgiving, has a full belly, a frosty col-beer in hand, and has the ability to root for UAB tonight. We can all hate them later.

Yeah, for some reason, ESPNU is showing the Middle game instead of the UAB game. My cable listing has it the other way around. Oh well. Guess im a Blue Raider fan instead.

I wasn't a fan of Ehsan when UAB hired him. I know they were trying to keep going on what Haase had put in place but to me the hire seemed out of place especially with some of the other candidates in the mix.
I also thought that MTSU hiring McDevitt was a reach somewhat. He looked decent as a Big South coach until you look at the schools and recruiting the Big South has. It only takes a few players at that kevel to win that conference. It took Kermit Davis a decade to figure out how to be a decent DI coach, at this time MTSU nor CUSA can allow another coach a decade to figure it out.

Jury is still out on McDevitt of course. But winning Conference USA is no small feat these days. Even if one of the top teams falter there are 4-5 teams that will fight HARD to capture that spot. Once you have lost that winning mojo it can be so hard to regain it. We had the best recruiting class we've had since Reagan was in office and it is FAR from a given that we will reach the NCAAs. He (McDevitt) seems to follow the trend of recruiting 6'5" guys that can play multiple positions. This is fashionable with a lot of coaches these days. Harper tried this at WKU. Spoiler alert: it didn't work. Remains to be seen if he can land the kind of players that he needs to really compete.

Playing positionless is the way basketball 1st started out up until the late 60s to mid 70s when everyone thought each position had to have a defined role, you had to have a big guy clog up the lane, at least 2 shooters (PG, SG) and 2 rebounders (F).
Mike D'Antoni brought the idea of positionless back when he took over the PHX Suns in 1993. It took a good 10 years for it to take hold in other NBA cities but its what a lot of NBA teams are starting to do now.
It's taken even longer for it to trickle down to college. Marshall, UMBC, Loyola Chicago all play poistionless. Buffalo, Cincy and Butler do somewhat. Those that completely reject poistionless ball include Virginia, Wichita State, ODU and now Charlotte.
In Dan's last 3 classes all of the recruits now signee's and players can play at least 3 poitions if it be 1, 2 and 3 or 2, 3, 4. That and all but 2 can shoot the ball anywhere on the court. To play the way Dan and others play you have to be able to recruit and recruit the right players.

You load up with enough shooters and get hot then you always have a punchers chance in a 3 game tournament.
