Better academics is not always a benefit to a football coach.

App is in 37 TV markets, can leverage Boone International Airport, and has a Publix right down the street.

Not sure how we compete with that.

Rob says clt is right about the restaurants ... and that's about it. And really depends on what you want to eat.

Kidd Brewer- 21,650 > Jerry Richardson- 15,314
Mountains > City
Boone > Harrisburg
App Grad rate-69.7% > UNCC Grad rate-54.5%
Snow> Rain

btw, 35-9 ... and you're welcome if you were wanting Lambert gone. Maybe y'all can find a coach that'll get ya over .500 one day.

I heard Satterfield called UNCC begging for this opportunity to move up. He’s most excited about the fact that with UNCCs low admission requirements, he can finally recruit non qualifiers to compete with Marshall.

No word out if access to running water and high speed internet are contributing factors in Satts decisions.

It's cute SlAppy still obsesses over Marshall when they have only played 1 time since Marshall said "See ya" to the SoCon in 1996. And that was a 50-17 win in 2002.

Butchie Wallace trout's 54 Yards For A TD

Byron Leftwich to Josh Davis For 76 Yards

Leftwich threw for 468 yards that day and 6 TDs.

Ive never heard 1 Marshall fan, alumni, student, yadda yadda yadda say "Damn I wish we could play SlAppy State" after we left the SoCon in the dust.

HZ, I'm glad to have App St on the future OOC schedule. I wouldn't mind playing them on a regular basis. I used to want to share a conference with them but I'm back pedaling after looking at their basketball program/attendance.

I take it you've never been to Boone for a game as an opposing Marshall fan. I have, it's not pretty. The last time I was there in 1996 a 24-10 win I had to go buy a new shirt just to get home. It was that or wear chili and ketsup all over my Marshall jersey back home, stains that never did come out.

Well none of those are benefits that UNCC has over App, well except internet speed.

But one thing they do have is an abundance of car dealerships and chain restaurants in very close proximity to campus. Not sure if its enough to sway Satt for that inevitable SEC invite, but i'm sure Hill is making his case.

Every fan base has a few knuckle heads. I'm not going to judge the entire group by something that happened over 20 years ago lol. I have a lot of respect for the App State football program and fans. As I said, I wouldn't mind to play them every single year or even share a football conference with them.

please. I went to Boone after our game against Tennessee to look for something to eat. Everything closed at ten and the only thing open was hungry Howie’s . I suppose you don’t consider your two story Wendy a chain.
You can have your frankensteined track that you play football in. Lipstick on a pig.
And tell all your students doing their internships in Raleigh, Greensboro and Charlotte because the mountains are devoid of industry, “hi”.

You guys are being too tough on Boone. I highly recommend you put your family in the car and drive to Boone...then immediately head south 8 miles on HWY 321 to Blowing Rock. Lovely little mountain town with restaurants that do not use plastic forks, nice shopping, and if you can stay there are places that do not have the numbers "6" or "8" in their names.

Probably not a very high pregnancy rate in that town I’ll bet.

This. Wife and I go to Chetola resort in Blowing Rock often. We rarely ever go to Boone. In fact, we usually go around Boone on the way to west Jefferson from BR.

Boone is designed for college kids. Blowing Rock for adults with money. Boone is overrated by App alums, but so are virtually all college towns. People think of them fondly because college years are memorable years.

Blowing Rock is definitely nicer, but we have never had any emotional connection to Boone, so we see it for what it is rather than through the eyes of college kids.
