Furman beats 2 Final Four Teams
Furman could be our first low major at-large in lightyears (although ‘12 Murray St & ‘06 Bucknell would’ve been shoo-in’s and perhaps ‘07 Winthrop).

Not gonna lie, it'd be fun to see them ranked for a while, and I'm sure they'll get some votes after this.

What on earth is going on with the Big East?

Big East just lost a ton of talent- with some of it very unexpected.... I think everyone knew OOC play would be rough- but maybe not to this degree..... The next 9 days is huge for them with 7 of the 10 teams starting their exempt tournaments and Providence just gets Michigan tomorrow....

I kind of hope major conference programs see the folly of the tournaments and they just schedule good OOC straight, without the risks that come from tournaments if you or your desired opponents fail to deliver.

The way the Big East is playing, coming up short early is going to destroy the non-conference SOS.

the thing is- the losses they've had haven't come from the tournaments. If anything the tournaments might save them quite frankly.

That assumes we would have won comparable home-and-home OOC games. It just looks like a bad year for us. 3 bids? Hard to imagine 2, but also hard to imagine these OOC results.

So they snuck by defeating teams without the talent.

That doesn't mean Furman has enough talent to do anything in the tournament.

Furman needs to beat all of last year’s Final Four before they earn my respect.

RE: Furman beats 2 Final Four Teams
I wouldn't say the big east teams don't have the talent. I would say the talent they have is pretty inexperienced....

also a lot of players in new roles... Ken Pom has a continutity rating.... where it shows guys in roles from last year to this year... here it is....
Butler 19
Marquette 82
St John's 132
Providence 177
DePaul 190
Georgetown 211
Creighton 233
Villanova 243
Seton Hall 251
Xavier 271

So 7 teams under the 50% mark. Granted with Providence just barely and for DePaul- it might be a good thing where they were last year. I could see these teams being pretty good by end of the year..... BUT it not making much difference as they're going to take too many losses OOC for it to really matter much....

Furman finally ranked. Reminds me of the mid-2000’s when Bucknell and Winthrop were ranked.
