A couple reasons why - it’s symmetrical (In this case, solid on two sides), you have an endzone building, and you have an indoor next to the stadium. When the east side was constructed, NIU had the smarts to keep the design consistent (that is, how the bottom facade is the same on both sides). It’s a very good looking stadium, honestly. I know you need a new press box, new amenities (bathrooms, concessions, etc), but you have the bones there. You need something on the south side though ..... BSU, on the other hand, eck. No symmetry and the east side is so bad - high school aluminum bleachers. The four sides generally do not match. I can go on for a long time .... The MAC has some awesome, intimate stadiums that rock. But EMU and UB must (drop the field surface and) lose their tracks. Those are awful. (Signed, stadium fanatic)

i agree

Look at these low budget schools with their tiny little stadiums!"03-lmfao

If NIU had a billion dollar budget, a national TV contract, a rich history and drew 80,000 fans a week to their games, we could have a stadium like The Horseshoe or The Big House. But we have our budget, and we do what we can with it. And it does not cost over $100 to sit in the cheap seats for just one game either.

That is also why it is so sweet to score a victory over one of the big boys.
+1 on your whole post, but especially the last sentence. They have the big $, premier facilities, athletes, and coaches, and we can still beat a few of them every 5 years at their house!

Oh and it’s extra sweet when they pay you $1 million dollars to whoop their *ss.
