Sam and Jim I agree that McAdoo presents a better option in the 2 spot right now, he is a very good shooter. At Duke, however, he coughed up the ball a lot and needs to work on that. Parris and Ellison are our point guards next year.
Did you guys see how Murphy handled Toure when he got that charging call? Multiple f bombs and telling him "don't talk to me, I told you not to dribble".
YES. Gave him the business. Was it me or did the gym get a bit quieter?
No Tom it was not you. After the first F bomb I think the crowd was stunned and went quiet. I liked that Murphy was engaged and demonstrative unlike in the past where he simply pulled guys and gave them the stink eye. Unfortunately the Convo is not a loud atmosphere and he needs to use normal language.
So quite one or two fans can yell and get the other team to miss free throws. 44%

Kind of reminds me of Charles Ramsey's tirade. I was at the game with a buddy of mine who usually attends only 1 or 2 games per season and we were both shocked at how Murphy lost control of his temper. I thought Murphy was way out of control and hurt himself with his poor communication skills out in the public eye. First off you do not talk to players this way. You want to lose the team? Keep talking to them like this and he will. Tourre is not the only player he has addressed this way either. I'm sure it went over well with any prospective recruits and parents that might have been in attendance. Murphy has a reputation and history of alienating and distancing himself from the administration, fans and alumni and this tirade didn't help his cause. Murphy needs to learn how to properly communicate with his players with ways that encourage them and motivates them to play together not in ways that disintegrates the team. Malik Ellison came in and had some good plays and some bad ones. After two turn overs Malik was taken out of the game and Murphy made some non encouraging remarks. Players can not play when they are afraid to make mistakes. If a player is working hard (Ellison was playing hard) and makes mistakes, simply sub someone for him and coach them up using language that is motivating and encouraging not overly critical. I have heard from some players that Murphy does praise them and we need to see more of that during the game vs what we heard on Saturday or he'll lose this team figuratively and literally.

I wasnt at the game but ive heard his F-bombs before. Murphy needs to clean his act up or pack his bags. You cannot have a guy representing the university in a high profile position acting like a dick.
Weatherbee needs to monitor this. I'm thinking a public apology is in order.

F-bombs are common but should only be in practices, if there.

Interesting. Did you live out in Boston at all? I did for all while, and all 3 of my kids were born out there. Loved it. But had to move back to MI- the consultation being I get to attend EMU basketball games.
Lived in CT and MA for a while - graduated high school outside of Worcester. I prefer metro detroit - but I still try to follow terrier hockey when I can

Odd you should say that as Weatherbee and family were in one of the suites during the game.

Yeah Malik always gives 110% and hustles, Really no need to get on him. Need more confidence on his shot and drives. Toure if I recall has go do with lack of defense and getting to the spot on time. We did better without him in there. Parris got pulled for most of the game as well.

Yep, I've been to a few games at state, UofM, Oakland and UofD the past couple of seasons and although some of these coaches use fowl language, it typically isn't directed personally at players: they may say WTF are you doing, WITH didn't you box out, blah, blah, blah, but the way Murphy addressed Tourre was totally unacceptable. Was it as bad as Bacari Alexander telling a player to Suck his D? Of course not, but Murphy needs to tone it down because 1) EMU won't tolerate it and 2) the players will turn against him. A coach needs to build confidence, and encourage his players to reach their potential - not address them like they are dirt-period! I would be fired from my job if I ever spoke to superiors or subordinates like he did on Saturday.
Let's move on

True, but what I dislike when fans of a team act like a 13 year old girl in front of a mirror.
She sees all kind of flaws, blemishes, etc. etc. half of which others do not.
No one is saying Murphy, EMU, etc. is perfect, but I'm not going to sit at a forum and find flaws day and night, and at the same time, fail to realize other teams or schools have the same flaws, etc.
I doubt Murphy is a candidate for the young Bobby Knight award....
E.g., CNN Breaking News: "EMU is out of Title IX compliance."
Truth there might be scores of FBS schools in the same boat.

E.g., CNN Breaking News: "EMU is out of Title IX compliance."
Truth there might be scores of FBS schools in the same boat.
Steve I have seen Murphy act like Nero with Rome burning when he had the Lee, Toney, Mangum Team. I already stated that I liked his engagement with both Toure and Ellison, the exception being the choice of verbiage in the confines of the Convo where everybody hears everything.
Coaches are who they are. I will not criticize his motivational techniques as long as it appears he is devoted to the team and players success. He does need to improve his language in doing so however.
Now for the other side of the coin. Max Cosby, Kyle Rachwal, Jerry Harris etc... entered the football program as ordinary players and have become absolute STUDS! I would love for Murphy to show me just one prospect like this. Ray Lee was a great freshman and was marginally better as a senior. Tim Bond entered as a great athlete and left with all of his physical skills but little beyond that. JT4 actually shot the ball better when he was a freshman-sophomore and other than his physique, little has improved.

CC is probably the exception to the rule in coaching.
I believe he has very strong religious beliefs and carries them in his professional and personal life.

Using the F bomb is no big deal. Its definitly in my vocabuly. My concern is that he yells it when the entire arena can hear it. Izzo can get away with it because, well, he's Izzo. And he plays in a packed and noisy arena that can help hide it.
Just don't want to lose what fans we do have because of stuff like this.
Wonder if he let one fly during education day.
