Right now with 2 weeks to go- CBS has 4 of the top 10 games of the season. Fox has none. While yes Fox still has left Ohio St/Michigan and Big Ten title game, CBS has Alabama/Auburn and the SEC title game(which is aired unopposed).

In terms of # of games- CBS right now has had 14 games, Fox 24. When all is said and done- it's Fox 34 to CBS 17.... Sounds great for Fox. However lets dig deeper.... CBS has had 3 games all year long draw less than 3 million. Fox has had 16. CBS has had 11 games draw over 3 million viewers to only 8 for Fox. So College football IMO is a clear win for CBS.

As far as basketball/baseball- regular season CBS has all 6 major conferences plus the AAC. Fox has 2. So for regular season college basketball CBS has a HUGE lead. Then March Madness quite frankly tops baseball.

Lets just say it's not definitely a gimme for Fox......

And what the heck does CBS have to do with the price of tea in china? It's just you poo pooing Fox by trying to make the case that they are somehow less than what they actually are. You disparage them as much as you do the Big East. It's like you hate that they gave the Big East a contract and if Fox fails then the Big East fails and it ties into this larger bias you have. I would love to have you undergo a psychoanalysis. I'm sure the results would be fascinating.

he said that Fox had the most marquee over the air events. And I brought up that CBS has a very good and reasonable claim to that. Might want to read the thread....

Oh so this is the first time you tried to make it seem like Fox isn't that great?

I think a lot of folks would say that CBS has a better group of properties over Fox. College Football getting 100% of the best conference much better than getting 50% of even 3 conferences top selections- ratings show that. NFL is really close- really the season depends on who has the Super Bowl. College Basketball is an absolute blowout for CBS. Golf is a blowout for CBS. MLB is good for fox- but it's demographics are not good at all. NASCAR is a niche sport.

It's no walkover like Frank was making it out to be.....

RE: 1st shot in Programming war fired
NFL - Advantage Fox - Thursday night football and NFC generally a more attractive package
NBA/NHL - N/A
MLB - Advantage Fox
College Football - Advantage Fox, but its close - Fox can have solid to good games throughout the day. Sometimes they will have a great game. CBS can have 1 good to great game every week aside from a handful of exceptions
College Basketball - Advantage CBS
Golf - Advantage CBS
Soccer - Advantage Fox
Nascar - Advantage Fox

Ultimately it comes down to what sports you prefer. However, Fox does draw or beat CBS in everything College Basketball and Golf so my vote goes to Fox

Fox can have solid to good games throughout the day- but do they? I mean what did they have today? Fox best case is going to have 2 top 10 games for the entire season. CBS will have 4 top 10 games.

Also, I would say that with the NFL flexing thing- you're seeing the packages starting to morph a bit. I mean- Redskins/Cowboys earlier this year- on CBS.

IMO the biggest advantages either have in things they compete in are College Basketball and Golf.

The only time golf gets ratings is when there's a major or Tiger is in contention. Neither of those two and the numbers are nothing special.

Fox will get better ratings with WWE Smackdown than CBS will get with golf.

Well, CBS does have 2 of the 4 majors, including the Masters, the biggest one of the year- and one that always suits Tiger's game very well...

At least it's better than NASCAR. of the 31 races that have run on time this year(so not counting weather ones)- 27 of those posted year to year declines, and 26 hit either an all time or a decade long low. You talk about something that's bubble has bursted.

I think this Saturday will be really telling about Fox. They have the Michigan/Ohio St game in a position where it matters.... This is one of those if they can't get a monster number, when would they kind of thing.
