Does Cincinnati's 2019 Schedule Get them in CFP
This is a hypothetical UC fans are having on their board. UC's schedule next year includes @Ohio State, UCLA, UCF, USF, Houston, Memphis and Temple, plus the CCG game. If the Bearcats somehow win out would this resume get them into the CFP?

If UCLA pulls a repeat of what they did this year, then most likely not. If anything, beating Ohio State, if they end up winning the B1G, would probably make people scream that the B1G is having a down year.

It will probably never happen. Unless every "P5" playoff candidate available has 3 or 4 losses, but even that would not be a guarantee.

RE: Does Cincinnati's 2019 Schedule Get them in CFP
Yes.

In 2009, TCU would have been in a 4-team playoff, even though there were 3 undefeated power conference champions.

TCU beat 3-9 Virginia, 8-5 Clemson, 7-5 SMU (C-USA), FCS Texas State, and 2 ranked teams in-conference (Utah and BYU).

#5 was 12-1 Florida. As good as they were, Florida only beat 1 ranked team during the regular season.

10-2 Ohio State, 10-2 Oregon, and 8-5 Clemson won their conferences but would have been left out. Even if Georgia Tech had beaten Clemson in the ACC title game, they would have been 10-2.

That's sort of what I figured. Let's be honest, with a few exceptions-- nobody else gets into the CFP if any four of those schools have 1 loss or are undefeated (this includes P5 schools).

Win 14 games and beat Ohio State and UCLA - most likely yes.

RE: Does Cincinnati's 2019 Schedule Get them in CFP
As of right now,
No G5 school will ever get a "bid" in the 4 team CFP
This yr,
UCF could have a NCAA best 24 win streak on the line
& still will have no shot @ a CFP bid

But.....
The 3 Iconic Military Schools
(Long History, patriotic, nat'l interest)
might have the best G5 chance to get a CFP bid
If they "ran" the table

Can't see it. The system is rigged against it.

It will be difficult for them to get 14 wins before bowl season....

It’s the type of schedule a team would need to have:however, UC probably wins 7 to 10 games next year.

Good effort by Cinci, but no G5;ever gets in, it is totally rigged. I used to be against a G5 playoff, but an 8 team tourney would draw..

Fact of the matter is most P5s will never get in CFP. it is reserved for about 20-30 schools.

Depends on how good Ohio State and UCLA are.

Good point. But even at 13-0 I think they are in if they have beaten Ohio State.

Just guessing what the committee would do, but my guess is that it would take going undefeated with something like BYU's schedule.

If a G5 team wants to make the playoffs, they'll likely need to play and win 3 or even 4 P5 non-conference games - IMO.

If you run the table with a win in the Horseshoe...you’ll get in provided OSU finishes 10-2.

But to be fair, if they beat some teams so badly it gets recorded as 2 wins, that's a scenario where I think they may have a shot.

I think it goes further than that.

Venture to say that ANY 0 or 1 loss P5 champ gets the nod over a G5 champ (even if undefeated). Venture to say that most 1 loss P5 runner ups get the nod over a G5 champ.
