Canada: So progressive. So woke. So anti-patriarchy. Single payer is amazing. Look at how socially progressive they are.
Nothing says you're in good hands with government quite like being forced to be sterilized against your will .... bonus points for being targeted as a Native American.
RE: Isn't single payer wonderful? Forced sterilization in Canada.
I don't know why the allies spent so much and lost so many lives defeating the Nazis. With the laws we are passing today, we are only making the tyranny of Hitler seem like it was merely 70 years ahead of the times. And sterilization based on race is only 1 aspect of der Fuhrer's policies. Confiscation of weapons from common citizens, a homeland security bill (and that is what it was called), political correctness (coined by Goebbels) was designed to start the laws against free speech and thought, the expanded reasons to search without warrant, aggression against some groups became more of a crime than aggression against other groups, presumed guilt instead of innocence, etc.

At may age and current state of health, single-payer would be a death sentence for me. I'm over 60 and a cancer survivor. I have a pretty active life. Single-payer would tell me I'd lived long enough, so go enjoy dying.

It is intended to be. The elderly are the new Jews in the propaganda of the left. Why us? We know them for who they are and pose the greatest obstacle to their objectives because we were alive and have fought and beaten them in the past. When Boomers are gone, like their parents before them, the last generation victorious over fascism and communism will be dead.
They've had our kids under their tutelage since the early 80's. They've redacted much of our history and if you attended a college history class today and read the textbook you wouldn't recognize what you have lived.
We are the last touchstone to an age of reason that educated, mobilized, and defeated their philosophies. So a passive genocide by the withholding of care based on age deadlines for key procedures is their Zyclon B for our generation.
They know when we are gone so too will be the resistance to the confiscation of weapons, the insistence upon free speech, the insistence upon the rights of the individual, and the insistence upon the rights of personal property.
Spend some time talking to the young about these issues Owl and you will discover just how close we are to losing our freedom. And all of it is because we have ignored what was being taught to our kids. It will open your eyes to why our only hope is to take back the classrooms from the left.

Aren't you all prepared to leave the USA already anyway?

If we passed single-payer, with no opt-outs, I would pretty much have to leave. But I don't think the people calling for "single-payer" really mean single-payer, because most of them don't even understand what it means.

You mean the morons that thought Obamacare was about actual healthcare? Of course they don't know what it means, it's just a word they heard from their leftist overlords that they are parroting.

RE: Isn't single payer wonderful? Forced sterilization in Canada.
What's scary is many on the left fail to realize the simple notion that Dan McLaughlin framed pefectly in the national review: when it comes to healthcare, you CANNOT have universality, high quality, & affordability. You can only have 2 of those. This is iron law across all countries.
You want universality and affordability HC? That means you get terrible quality of care.
You want high quality and universality HC? That means it's going to be expensive.
You want affordability and high quality HC? That means it's not universal and everyone can't get it.

This is a very astute post.
Yep. Hit the nail on the head.
......and I guarantee those on the left pushing this know exactly what they are doing.
What still baffles me is what great failures fascism and communism have been without exception - because they both ignore human nature.
The idiots going down that path won't figure out they aren't part of the chosen class until it's too late - then they will be part of that class that is all equally miserable.

"The women would be told that they could not leave until their tubes were tied, cut or cauterized, she added, or that "they could not see their baby until they agreed."
And people scoffed when Sarah Palin talked about death panels......
How long before Government deems anyone over 30 to be "too expensive" and therefore needs to be "renewed".....

All you need to defeat freedom and self determination is a couple of ignorant and immoral generations, who have never been encouraged or instructed on how to think for themselves, and who have had their laziness acquiesced by easy grades and social passes for the failures. Then in the classroom teach them carefully the excuse of how their all of their shortcomings are the responsibility of the evil successful people who wanted and engineered their failure and how this egregious inequity is the source of their entitlement, and the oligarchs get rid of the only obstacle they face and embrace a new inferior generation raised to be their slaves.
The uber wealthy oligarchs will use the minorities and ignorant to eliminate the only enemy capable enough to defeat them, the middle class, and then they will not only enslave them, but eliminate the ones they detest.
For those old enough to remember the story of Pinocchio if you corrupt young minds you turn them into jackasses fit only to be slaves. Hello!

Sound familiar? It's not just Canada!
Don’t forget the demonization of opposing views and religion. Along with the underlying socialism from henceforth came the very name ‘Nazi’.
And the ringer, Goebbels learned everything he knew from an American so popular in the modern day progressive socialist democrat party, Margaret Seanger. Yes, the founder of Planned Parenthood was a racist whose plan was to rid the world of the inferior races, mainly blacks, by sterilization and abortion. The term used here by some, ‘deamoncrats’ is wholly appropriate. Today thousands of black children are murdered in their mother’s womb every day never to get the chance to cast a vote at all.

You cannot have all three.
Brief aside, but this is broader in scope than just healthcare. It's involved in everything that involves economic exchanges. It boils down to a 3 legged stool for Cost, Quality and Deliverables to Customers (access for healthcare, on time delivery if we're talking about goods/services).

A lot of Democrats under 30 already talk that way.
