Ugly defense in the second quarter as the Rockets allowed the Gaels a basket with about a minute to go. Over ten scoreless minutes. This is the team I thought we’d have. Tyra looks like abill Russell. Everybody had played but two frosh. 39-15 at half.

Apparently Iona is awful, losing 61-35 in their last game so I’m tempering my enthusiasm a bit. Now 41-20.

Glad they won so convincingly! Iona is t-e-r-r-i-b-l-e. They've lost all 3 games by 30+ points, but I believe this is the biggest margin thus far.

I thought the Gaels might turn it around when they tried to start Jeff Ruland in the second half but the refs picked up on it. Speaking of refs, Toledo shot 4 FTs and had only one player with more than 2 fouls. Refs let them play.

Not sure what to say about that game. I don't think I've ever seen a DI team as bad as Iona. The Rockets did what they should have done, which is completely blow them out.

I love the 50%+ shooting and the low turnovers. And it was great to see the young players get in and have success. But Iona, with seven dressed players, played a passive zone defense so its hard to assess the relevance of the numbers and the final score. Did however make 9 3s and there are lots of games where the rockets can't make one open 3. So I guess we have to see this as a positive step. Onward and upward lady rockets!

This game proved nothing. Iona is a very bad team, but, I did not see anything from the Rockets to get very excited about. Sunday may prove me wrong but, I don't think so. This team is slow, can't rebound and shooting is in question. I think teams who have speed will blow us out of the water..
