"damn, you can play on national TV, big time"
Same thing with family....so if Fine was considering it and by the quote, he was. I would be very worried if I was a UNT fan, about next years QB.
As I said...kids change their minds daily, sometimes hourly. What a kid says on Sr day, is off of emotion...it when he's away from the team and who's in his ear that will probably win out....if its family
Fine is a real leader, the kind of player a program only sees once in a generation, if they are lucky. His word means something. If he says he is coming back, then he is coming back. He isn't the kind of guy to back out of his commitment. That is why he is successful and respected.
That may be true but he was thinking about it for a reason....
has many many many months to change his mind again. Leader or not people will be in his ear and if its family I think Fine will be playing somewhere else if its a blueblood school
Watch this and then tell me Fine's family will be in his ear to leave UNT. He will be back next season.
He very well could be back at UNT but the fact he even thought about going the GT route means someone was in his ear. If its family I wont be surprised to see him playing at another school next year.
This is not something he has to make a decision on right now....
seen players make that decision coming out of Spring Ball. I dont think that will be the case with Fine. If he takes the GT route it will be during the summer when he's away from UNT

Okay... Lets try this one. Directly from Mason Fine. He isn't leaving. The rumor is over.

Good for NT. Hope he stays because when he’s gone it’s gonna be tough to replicate the success you had with him, at least short term. Happens to every team that loses an experienced multi year starter.

You actually just named one of the very best reasons for him to move on. "He doesn't have an NFL future". I don't know a lot about the kid. But if you are right, then the best thing he could do is think about what is best for his future academically. This is not a dig at North Texas. But it is looked at favorably to have an advanced degree at a different school than the undergrad degree. Just the way it is when looking at someone's resume'. Of course, this also depends on what field he gets his degree.

In not only his height but his build. Doug Flutie, who's NFL career was very pedestrian, had some stockiness to his build. Fine is also not a great runner like Flutie was. I consider Fine a pocket passer than a mobile quarterback.
Just curious, but how old is he? Both of my sons had their final growth spurt from age 22 to 23. The oldest was 5'11" 175 and ended up 6'1" 195. The youngest was 6'1" 195 and ended up 6'3" 225. So, it might be slim chance, but very possible he could still put on some height and weight.

I never doubted what the kid is saying about UNT....
the fact that he thought about it says more than anything. The right offer comes along and he's at home away from school and he will think about it again. The kid might come to the same conclusion that UNT is still best for him.
Then again he might not even with his over the top statement. I dont have a clue if its a 99% chance he's back at UNT or a 5% chance. The one thing I do know...college age kids change their minds often.
If you 100% believe Fine will be back, I'm not trying to change your mind. I just stated a opinion on the fact he thought about it once and kids that age change their minds often.
I dont know who his favorite team was growing but I doubt if it was UNT...if that team comes calling. Fine will give it some more thought

Each year the kid has to earn their scholarship for the next season and it can be taken away. I wish the NCAA would look at scholarships as a contract between the player and the school. If a school offers a kid a scholarship for one year then the kid can leave after that one year. If a school guarantees the kid four years then the kid can't transfer without permission for those four years.

He might grow some more but doubt it. Look how small his parents are in the video. Regardless he’s an unbelievable college quarterback and tough as nails. I could see him having a hall of fame career in the CFL.
