RE: Johnston to start against A&M
The USM and Charlotte games suggest our offense will be overmatched on the line of scrimmage, but if we can move the qb and create possession time playing short ball with our TEs, backs and slots, and take advantage of their aggressiveness by completing a few deep balls to Carter and X, their secondary is a weak point that can be exploited. Pittman and Lisa and Lee and our faster backs will be key. If they create some doubt in A$M early, and can pressure Mond, win the turnover battle and avoid the bonehead petty penalties we can win this game. Big IFs, but achievable. This team has enough weapons to win on the road at a mid tier SEC opponent, but there is no margin for big mistakes.

Hopefully our guys watched film of the last 7 minutes against Auburn, because they absolutely shredded that defense, and Auburn's offense sucks.

I think at this point calling them a big 12 team is a bit unfair. They have athletes on defense, especially the line. We are going to have to move the pocket and find some easy completions to try and keep the pressure to a minimum. It isn’t an impossible task, but it sure is a tough one.

Solid point. And the oline in Auburn is definitely not a strength.

In most competitions, playing a better opponent can help improve your own performance by illustrating paths of improvement during the contest. It can help us raise our own level of play which can be of benefit the following weeks no matter the score this week. TX A&M will challenge the UAB Blazers to come closer to the 100% possible limit of performance.

They are not an sec team yet because they had the ex houston coach who was running a houston offense (aka big 12) , not an SEC offense
.To win in the sec WHITOUT SEC PLAYERS who need to have a spectacular qb aka joe football ,,,,,since he left ,,,they are not winning
they are not a bad team but they have one winning record in the sec ...the first year of jonhnny football
THEY ARE better then us because we are a good cusa team and we not even a decent sec team yet
i am hoping for good game because I am an UAB fan but anyone beside a UAB FANS will be suprise if we play them close .

Dang. TAMU had both Football brothers? Johnny and Joe. Must have been like the O'shea brothers, since Joe wasn't as well known.
Just poking fun.

Yes, but they held AU to a total of 20 yards on the ground. The Weagles made their comeback on a special teams play and throwing the ball. We will likely need to come up big in the return game and passing game to be in position to win.

RE: Johnston to start against A&M
It was almost 20 years ago but here's some things I remember about watching us beat LSU in Baton Rouge:
1. No turnovers
2. We were very solid in the kicking game and not just field goals. Good punting and no long runbacks.
3. Good punting worked with just good enough offense to make LSU drive the length of the field all day. We cannot give A$M's offense a short field tomorrow by either turnovers or negative yardage possessions.
4. We made the most of our opportunities. The couple of times we did break the LSU 50 that day, we capitalized with a FG and long TD pass. Then we didn't drop the late interception or miss the ensuing FG.
5. I wish Josh Booty was starting for the Aggies.
6. Mainly, we stayed in the game. Our D made LSU work for everything and we didn't beat ourselves.
Going to have to be a sharper game from UAB tomorrow. A bushel of penalties and turnovers will be very difficult to overcome.

Their rushing D was #3 last time I looked. If we can't run the ball it will be a long day for us.
If it's like that starting Johnston might be a break. Depends on how much pressure the Aggies can get on him. Their Oline isn't that strong. QB has had games where he got happy feet, our defense might be able to do something they don't think we can.

dont forge thtat they give the ball to lsu like 8 times for them to score close to the end school
if boody doesnt pass on this play ,,,uab go on ot and lose the game because of the ref ,,,you cannot beat sec ref :(
during that game one receiver had a nickname hand of stone but finally catch a ball in the end zone ,,,,the defense was good ,,,lsu offense was perfect for us ....
i just want a close game and maybe a win ,,,will be the cherry over the sunday or something like that ")

I go into this game assuming we can’t run the ball. I assume Clark will try a little early but adjust if we aren’t getting anywhere. I think Johnston starting actually gives us the best chance of winning that game.(it also gives us the best chance of getting blown out, double edged sword) at the end of the day I really just hope all of our guys are healthy and this gives our guys some good experience. If we somehow pull of the win, great, but I’d rather have a healthy team next week than a win that bangs up half of our starters for the rest of the season.

Leron Little! Guy would be 5 yards behind the defense and drop balls put right in his hands. His one shining moment was pretty great. A circus catch from a Daniel Dixon bomb.
Offense struggled like we are kind of expecting today but they didn't cough up the ball deep in our territory. Protecting the ball, particularly early, will be crucial. Got to make them earn everything and maybe we can stick around until the second half. Then the crowd will get quiet and doubt will seep into the Aggies minds.

No turnovers. Minimize penalties.
We need smart play calling today of all days, and just a little luck.

RE: Johnston to start against A&M
The talking points, we are playing against an SEC defense/offense and we are over matched at the lines. This game may be won at the lines, but our team's mental state is important. We went to Florida last year and was beaten by one of the worst Florida teams in recent memory.
We were beaten when we started looking at Florida instead of looking at ourselves. If we can win between our own ears and dont get overwhelmed by the environment, we will be in the game late.
If we are overwhelmed by the environment, and make no mistakes it will be loud, hostile and difficult for the offense to communicate. I believe Coach will have the team ready and the the team's senior leadership will have a calming affect on the rest of the team. My green and gold lens tell me....
We win 28-21
