Toews still has a ways to go defensively IMHO, especially when a guard posts him like last night. That guy went through him too easily and it's not like Kai is small. It looked like he was perimeter containing but not periodically getting in someone. That's the key, even if you give up half a step to an ultra quick guy. You have to put somebody on their heels. I do like his potential long term with his vision/play making and I really like the way that Gadsden plays defense and can score it too. Ty Gadsden has been playing well and that's a good sign for the future with these 2 newcomers (freshman and soph respectively).
I still feel that only the guys that play defense should play big minutes and they can't just let guys dribble foolishly on the perimeter going nowhere. That was cleaned up in the 2nd half yesterday and I'm sure that they didn't do that today....let's hope not.
This team needs to be consistent regarding defensive ball pressure and rotations and needs to run the offense via ball movement. I can live with the results if they do that.

As good as Gasden was offensively he was even better on the defensive end. He's the best on ball defender I've seen at UNCW in quite sometime. He absolutely earned the starting job. A lot of people on here are quick to trash McGrath when he makes mistakes, and deservedly so for the gameplan last night. However, he deserves credit for making a lineup change today and having a nice plan for stopping their best player. Also, Gasden and Toews have the potential to be very good CAA players, Sims has shown he can play solid minutes. About as solid as a class as you can ask for...

I have not watched any of the tournament. If you told me we’d take 2 of 3 of these tournament games a week ago I’d have been ok with that. I think C.B. May have found what he was looking for with Gasden. Good win for a team that desperately needed this one.

Put in 9 hours of driving to watch the C Panthers lay an egg again. So, if Gadsden started, who did he replace? Also, what did we do defesnively to mix it up some more? Sounds like we pressed and played some zone against GW.

ESPN hasn't updated for today's games, but if everybody else remained the same he would be 25th.

You started Gadsden, Cacok, Cylla, Toews, and Estime.

But back to the video....
So impressive. Looks like he's gaining more and more confidence at running the show. Both as a passer AND scorer.
His defense will get better over time as well. We've never had a point guard quite like this at UNCW, and I'm very excited to see his progress over the next 4 seasons.

I didn't want to speak that into existence, but I can't deny I wasn't thinking that.
Hopefully not the case, but on back to back days, a comment about the coaching, then this. Let's hope it's not the case because he has really looked solid.

Might be a simple case of him putting together fun videos for his Japanese fans and family that can’t see the games. No judgment from me.
I’m glad as a parent he’s involved and interested in the games. As long as his son is a Seahawk (hopefully for 4 years), he’s a fan and deserves the right to speak his mind as do the rest of us. His critiques are really no different from us hemming and hawing. He’s just Kai’s dad and probably has more basketball knowledge than most of us, myself included.
If anything, maybe those videos will be good for our recruiting. I say bring BT on staff! Lol
If you check out his page it looks like Kari has a talented younger brother too?

I remember there being people filming the games but I just assumed they were managers. That Eastern Illinois game is by far our best defensive performance of the year. The dunk Cacok had on one guy was something to see in person. Comes up around the 14:40 mark of the EIU video for those who haven't seen it yet.
