RE: Early Basketball Signing Period Starts Tomorrow
Anyone know why UT has not released an official story about MBB signings? On coach K's twitter account, two of the three expected signees have posted about signing, but not Luke Maranka. A Blade story said all three signed, but that's not official. On Maranka's twitter account, he doesn't mention signing, although it does say he is a commit and is wearing UT gear.

It’s interesting that 2019 6’08 Ocunzo tweets that he is committed to UT. He definitely didn’t sign yet so if anyone knows more on Ocunzo please chime in!

So....we have 11 returning players for next season, three guys who will have signed by tomorrow, which puts us one over the limit of 13 and now 6-10 Luke Maranka has signed!!! which makes 15.

I got 10 schollies players returning and two walk-ons. Right now we have 13 plus two walk-ons, we lose Darrington, Sanford and Navi, and add the four new players, so 14. Hmmmm....

RE: Early Basketball Signing Period Starts Tomorrow
Good news to hear Acunzo is signing. He is a good fit for UT. Kind of a Navigato type, 6-8ish and not real athletic, but shoots well and knows the game. His tapes suggest a certain toughness and feel to his game (he has good moves and handles). One of those guys you can run 2 man sets with as either the ballhandler or the picker. Fits the Coach K mold of guys with decent size who can shoot and handle the ball pretty cleanly. And with 3 other athletic guys in the incoming class I guess you need a slow guy who doesn't jump to even it out.

Yes, this puts our count at 14, but in this age of college hoops there is almost always a turnover of a player or two (or 5) year to year. We could speculate and suggest either Gordon or Hill won't be back as they are the last guys on the bench and both are kinda undersized 4 men and it doesn't make a lot of sense to keep both on scholarship. However, things happen and the roster could change in other ways.

If you look at the early commits for the entire MAC, UT has on average the most recruited players and the biggest group of incoming freshmen signing early. No big recruits in the league. CMU signed a 6-10 local 3 star kid, but he didn't have a lot of offers. Buffalo signed 3 jucos with size to help cushion graduating the top 3 bigger guys in their program. Ball St signed a 6-10 kid who Bobby Hurley at Arizona St offered as a junior, but he didn't have other notable offers. Don't think any MAC recruits had as many offers as incoming Rockets Donovon Moore or Acunzo (our most highly rated recruit w S Fla, Richmond, Old Dominion and a bunch more D1 offers). Then again, Acunzo plays for a team with 3 legit D1 recruits so I'm sure there's been a lot of recruiters through there who he got the chance to impress, even if they came to see someone else.

It's not like Kowalczyk to stock up with all freshmen. He usually likes to have some 'ships available for possible transfers from bigger programs like Fletcher and others. Hmm - maybe he believes these guys are all too good to pass up.
