BTW neither does one sport!

Diminishing returns. It's great to have a successful athletic program, but an investment in academics is far more important, in my view. Athletics makes the alumni happy, but the real money in Lansing is acquired by the strength of your academic programs.

Agreed academics is far more important. However athletic prowess can also translates into huge revenues to the school through donations. We all want to be associated with a winner.
