Hillsdale does a good job for a school with only 1600 students. They don't have too many sports, but the ones they do have are usually in contention for championships. Men's and Women's basketball are both favored to win the conference championship again this season and both Tennis teams are odds-on to win the championships again. Baseball and Softball should have a good shot at it.

And Hillsdale College Chargers defeat Kutztown University 40-26 to move on in the Division 2 College playoffs.

Next opponent is Notre Dame College of Ohio, next saturday.

Hillsdale was down 20-3 today and doing nothing right, but they came roaring back in the 2nd half. It looked like the teams flip-flopped in the locker rooms. 2nd Half the Chargers scored 5 TD's.

It makes Michigan look good with 3 teams in the Division 2 Playoffs, GVSU and FSU are in there as well.

GVSU is out, but Ferris State beat Harding 21-19 to advance to the next round. We still have two Michigan schools in the tourney. 02-13-banana02-13-banana

The Tournament standings as of today:

https://www.ncaa.com/brackets/football/d2/2018

Notre Dame of Ohio is going to be tough. They're undefeated and they have some rock solid players. It'll be a real challenge for Hillsdale.

Outstanding stuff.

Thank you for posting.

I know ND-Ohio has placed strong emphasis on athletics. A good portion (I forget the exact amount, but it is surprisingly high) of its student body receive an athletic scholarship of some amount.

For what it is worth, ND-Ohio is in Cleveland. Not the most interesting campus, and not the most rigorous academics (not bad, either).

I knew a young lady from Dexter who went there as a varsity athlete. Was an average student with sub-par ACT scores, but buckled down and flourished there. After two years, she didn't want to be a varsity athlete anymore and was able to transfer to Michigan where she graduated. She has a good job in education and is doing well.

Interesting contrast, you'll have a school with heavy focus on academics and test scores and a school with strong emphasis on sports and non-rigorous academics.

Some big games yesterday:

Hillsdales loses, FSU wins

Gotta love Slippery Rock advancing.

I have spent some time in Slippery Rock, PA. Nice little town with an outstanding brewery called "North Country." It once offered beer made with heather as opposed to hops. The menu included a small essay, on SRU letterhead, from the Slippery Rock prof who found the recipe while in Scotland and gave it to the brewery to try. It is several hundred years old and was developed by the Scots as a way of telling the Brits to take their overpriced, overtaxed, hops and "shove 'em."

Kinda like the Boston Tea Party, but with kilts, bagpipes and beer.

The beer itself was pretty good. Kind of a light, wheat-style, beer.

The food there is good too!

Hillsdale College battled very hard, but they fumbled twice at the 1 yard line going in for points. And they couldn't get any kind of a running game going.

Even so, they drove to the 15 yard line with seconds remaining and trailing by 19-14 but the last pass was tipped at the goal line. They gave Notre Dame college all they could handle on the NDC field.

I think Chance Stewart has potential to play on Sundays, either in Canada or the USA. He has the arm, the size-6' 6" and around 250 pounds-to make a statement.

I'm rooting for Ferris, even though they have that thug QB from Cass Tech. He is very good, but not someone who deserves as many "second chances" that he has gotten. But I would love to see FS win a championship. It's hard to believe that Ferris's coach hasn't been hired by a D1 school yet.

Ferris State edged out 49-47 by Valdosta State. The VSU QB could pass like nobody I've ever seen, incredible. 04-jawdrop
