Watson was great at playing these big name teams and keeping the score close (sometimes) and giving us a chance late in the game. We were especially good at it when we had a great defense which we currently have.

I agree that we need to try to find a way to run the ball, BUT we will have to throw it some and be effective when we do. Otherwise, TAMU will grind if not cruise to victory.

We wet the bed at Florida last year, but in 2014 Clark and Co put together a good plan for MSU, and that MSU team was better than this TAMU team, and our team now is better than 2014. We will need to connect on a few of the JJ Nelson type bombs to give our running game a fair chance.

I totally agree. But up to now, I've seen Ubosi hit in stride with the ball exactly once, and it was last Saturday, and I think he was more surprised than the rest of us. 03-pissed

And we'd have to hit him perfectly in stride twice, since he would drop one of those

Easy, now. He has made some huge plays this year.

Also, we have hit him in stride many times (UTSA, LA Tech, etc.). Still, we may need a long pass or two, but I think shorter passes (to Lee and Lisa) coupled with some roll-out run-pass options could be more effective. We need to hold the ball and run the clock - shorten the game.

Oh no doubt. To me, this is not on Ubosi or the QB's. I don't think we are practicing it enough. A guy with speed and size of Ubosi, we should be able to force 2x coverage on him on all plays. But we aren't effective enough getting the ball there in time, and we aren't hitting it enough for it to be in the scouting report.

The reason I don't think we are practicing it enough, is that the game speed timing is never there. It probably has more to do with AJ's shoulder, as he got most of the reps. Maybe Tyler is getting extra time in this week. We'll need a few long bombs out of play action to keep TAMU out of 8 or 9 in the box.

I pointed out in the USM preview that their defensive line was athletic but undersized and it would be interesting to see how our o-line faired.
We got the answer... it faired poorly and couldnt maintain blocks against much quicker defenders.

Texas A&M's d-line is at least as quick if not quicker than the one we just played, but they are NOT undersized.

You are right and , honestly, our O line has had some problems moving the line of scrimmage on short yardage and our lead back is not quick enough to get outside or run through a stone wall.

I love this post from their board. This guy is a Blazer fan at heart...

"6-3 Aggie win in OT. But what a game. We set an NCAA record with 11 penalties for intentional grounding. Traveon rushes for 280 yards on 4 carries but doesn't get into the end zone. Then we quit running the ball. Back-to-back-to-back-to-back delay of game penalties kill one drive and then we punt on 1st and goal from the 3 yard line on another. That catches them by surprise. But a win is a win."

I believe the Blazers will play well and the game will come down to who can control the lines of scrimmage.

The only opinions that matter are the ones that get on that plane to Texas and those of the players and coaches waiting on them. I can promise the people headed to Texas are firmly convinced that the plane ride back will be shorter.

Well, If they got those big corner backs, I would run the short turnarounds on them all day long as long as Tyler can hit em, I would let Colin Lisa run wild on them. Quick Slants and Ins and if you have 3 more seconds dump it deep. Keep em Guesing Coach.
