I agree UNT will be the CUSA team that has the potential.

Don’t see it, unless you can get some stud grad transfer QB, receivers and running backs

This has a lot of merit to it. This UAB team has a decent offense Erdely or Johnston doesn't matter, Brown is a good back but nowhere near the recent LaTech, WKU, or USM teams with prolific offenses.
The main reason the yardage was fairly even was UAB was trying to play catch up and had the ball and 20+ more plays on offense than Texas A&M. The Aggies didn't really need to make big plays with a sizable lead.
The conference overall was very average this season there was not one team that was even close to a New Years day bowl.
Hopefully everyone will be better next fall.

Lol, how does that have merit? The offense wasn't the problem outside of some red zone problems/interceptions. Heck, we were even playing a backup QB and backup center and moved the ball fine. A&M had their starters in all game. Our special teams play killed any chance of winning

Rose covered glasses though about those other teams. Those same teams didn't beat any P5 team of worth either. Certainly not any P5 better than this A&M team

2015 USM lost to a bottom dweller Nebraska and Washington, and was blown out by 8 win Miss State.

2015 WKU beat a 4 win Vandy by 2 where they were +3 in TOs. They were blown out by #18 LSU and lost to bottom dwellar 6 win Indiana.

2016 Tech lost to a 7 win Arkansas and a 5 win Texas Tech who had one of the worst defenses in college football.

Every one of them was blown out against any near top 25 P5 opponent. Not taking anything away from those teams because they were still great teams, but were not these world beaters that propelled themselves to a NY6 bowl either.

But I agree that in general the conference is worse this year. There are usually 2 or 3 teams around #30-50 this time of year for CUSA, but this year there is only one and a bunch of teams in the 50-80s

I have learned on this thread that Southern Miss fans strongly dislike Texas A&M for some reason. I feel like there must be an interesting story there or something? I tried to dig around and see if I could find something, but the only thing I could find was that Southern Miss was 0-7 all-time against the Aggies, that the Aggies have been to Mississippi to play twice, and that the mean old Aggies beat Brett Favre at least twice. I know that a lot of other fans in Texas dislike them (Texas and Baylor the most), but I didn't know it stretched over to a G5 program in middle Mississippi that has seen their best years pass by. Bitterness, thy name is Southern Miss

They are also 3rd in the sec west. I don’t know what the definition of bottom tier is to this guy, but that isn’t it in my book.

UAB needs speed on offense. La Tech ditto. Nothing scary about either of your offenses. UNT has Fine/Guyton and is close. Get the running game healthy or improved and add depth. UTSA, Rice, and UTEP are years away. USM needs an OLine.

FAU and FIU both look to be stronger next year. MTSU will have to replace Stockstill. Marshall was solid on defense, but needed more talent on offense, similar to La Tech and UAB. Charlotte was solid on defense as well, but is now rebuilding with a new coach. WKU is on coach-watch. ODU beat VPI and stumbled for 3 more wins.

Our entire backfield is 1 sophomore and 4 freshmen...all being introduced to Div 1 football behind a super bad O-Line....I would certainly hope BOTH will get better.

WR's pretty much all sophomores, and our "stud" WR has been out since Auburn game...you guys didn't see him.

So, do you know a team that starts a sh!tload of freshmen and sophomores that is NOT inconsistent?

Someone on here said USM fans were bitter about Texas A&W (and said we hold a grudge since the Brett Favor days? You gotta be kiddin'...)....but the true bitterness is from a few Techster fans who are pi$$ed they don't have Abraham anymore, and pissed they can't even beat mediocre USM teams! 04-cheers

Anyway, USM may screw the pooch next year, but with 18 returning starters in a mediocre conference, any fool like me would judge a better team is just around the corner. Hasta La Vista

Really?...and we noticed some folks in Texas have a cult-like devotion to Texas A&W.03-lmfao

I think most of us said if your cup of tea is a buncha boot-camp looking guys walking around like George Patton wanna-be's, then by all means support them.

Lots of folks enjoy college as a way of breaking free from the controlled lifestyle you had been accustomed to up to 18 years of age....Texas A&W is a place to continue that controlled lifestyle in a quasi-military environment.

Whether or not you like Texas A&W has nothing to do with whether or not you should join the military...because millions of men and women who have NOT enrolled to be an Aggie seem to do quite well without it.

Thanks for listening..04-cheers

Really bad play all around, Tech included. Holtz has gone ultra conservative to limit turnovers and that leads to ugly wins and even uglier losses, Saturday included.

G5 need really good offense to compete, WKU had it with Brohm. UNT could possibly put it together next year.

Just being honest man, I’ve watch USM several times. The losses ULM, Charlotte, and getting blown out by UNT.

It can happen sure, Monken loaded up on Jucos and had a decent season, even getting beat by good 6-6 Washington in Dallas.

Just think UNT has the best offense and shot of making noise next year.

There's going to have to be a lot of growing up on the OL for any upward movement. Sat vs La Tech, USM was missing our big play threat at WR (he will get a redshirt, and be a soph again next year) and our other really fast WR. We had a sophomore guard playing OT for the first time in his career. We had a walk-on a C who started and got the first considerable playing time of his career. The offense is ridiculously young and inexperienced. Our top 3 RBs are now freshmen. Our top 2 QBs are a soph (Abraham) and a true frosh (Whatley) who is getting trial by fire.

The defense should be solid again next season.

The special teams need a lot of work.

Most likely, in true Hop fashion, Southern Miss will be needing 2 wins in its final 3 games next season to become bowl eligible. But there is a possibility for big improvement, so the fanbase that is left continues to hope.
