With many schools having finals this week it's a slow week in CUSA:

Monday
Marshall host Morehead St

Tuesday
USM host non D1 Millsaps (interesting game time of 4:00 pm)
La Tech host Ms Valley St

Wednesday
no games

Thursday
Rice host non D1 team
FIU host North Florida (same North Florida that beat us in Cancun)

Friday
FAU at Arkansas St

Given what happened in June in Fayetteville, I dare say the sport does matter.

Rice and FIU both win so CUSA goes 3-0 so far this week vs D1 teams.

God help me, I know I'm a cynic when it comes to the current version of CUSA anything. But every time I come to the board and see the Subject "basketball games of interests", my first thought is - To whom?

03-banghead

Not a jab at you at all - it's me. Just wish I could get that thought out of my mind. 04-cheers

after our next 6 games (ALL ROAD GAMES at that) that might be a very good question
12/15 - Wichita St (5-4, RPI 86)
12/19 - Kansas St (6-2, 21)
12/21 - South Dakota (3-5, 287)
12/29 - La Tech (6-3, 133)
1/3 - Rice (2-6, 278)
1/5 - North Texas (7-1, 68)

Granted RPI has been replaced with the NET ratings but RPI was easier to look up and numbers generally aren't too far apart. Teams 2 through 6 will see their records/RPI change before we play them but this at least lets us know what we're looking at from this point. IMO we need to go a minimum of 3-3 in these 6 games if we want any success this season and anything better than that is icing on the cake hopefully. Our current record NCAA wise (non D1 games don't count) is 4-1 with a RPI of 142.

We'll go 1-5, which will only start the ugly conference slate we'll have in a terrible conference. When your team relies on shooting >50% from 3 to win games (while chunking up a lot of them), you won't find the success you're hoping for. But maybe at the end of the year, we'll begin to move forward with our program.

WKU lost at home to Troy. WKU has to be bipolar or something with their wins and losses.

RE: basketball games of interests
CUSA play opens tomorrow for a few schools while the rest start up next week. The remaining OOC games vs D1 teams are all good opportunities for CUSA to help what little chance we might have of getting a 2nd bid but still a long shot. Would be a huge boost if CUSA's preseason favs Marshall and WKU could both win as they play #s 2 and 4 respectively

NET rankings in parenthesis:
Saturday:
USM (108) at La Tech (98)
UNT (41) at Rice (260)
FAU (188) at Illinois (119)
WKU (148) host Wisconsin (4)
UAB host non D1
UTSA host non D1

Sunday
FIU (208) at Ohio (147)
MTSU (303) at Rhode Island (110)

Monday
Marshall (132) at Virginia (2)

Not the 1 I was expecting honestly. Truth is, we should be undefeated, but we’re not. And unless we win the tournament, we won’t go anywhere. Fix the coliseum and clean house.

@ half
USM 27
LT 33

We have THE most predictable offense. Dribble, dribble, dribble....then shoot a 3 w/ about 5 seconds left on the shot clock. Zero offensive rebounding. Boring one and done offense.
