Conference Championship Race?
Seems strange seeing all this basketball talk and nothing about football. But then again, Marshall, S. Miss and UNT are out of the running and have more active fans.

So am I wrong to think that the East is in play till the last week of the season? The way it looks, if Middle beats UAB and Marshall beats FIU (If FIU beats UNCC)....

Middle host the CUSA championship game against UAB

If the same holds true but FIU beats UNCC and Marshall...

UAB will host the CUSA championship game against FIU

That’s it in a nut shell. MT could be at UAB if we lose to UAB and FIU loses both. But doesn’t matter if FIU wins out or beats Marshall. They are in the drivers seat. We could beat UAB and still be watching the championship game from home. Even though Marshall is eliminated they come into play if we have a three way tie.

RE: Conference Championship Race?
It’s just not as exciting IMHO. Everything’s kinda set in stone.

UAB is locked in, and with two weeks to go, it’s only two teams in the East.

Also kinda boring that UAB and MTSU play in the final week, then possibly turn around and play for the championship the next week.

If I had to predict right now, I think FIU gets it.

Ultimately, I think this is UAB’s year.

They had this conference locked down starting with that hype video...

RE: Conference Championship Race?
I believe the championship tree in the east division is this...

If FIU beats Charlotte, then...
- if FIU beats Marshall, FIU is the East rep.
- if Marshall beats FIU and MTSU beats UAB, MTSU is East rep.
- if Marshall beats FIU and UAB beats MTSU, then...
- - if Marshall beats UTSA, Marshall is the East rep.
- - if UTSA beats Marshall, FIU is East rep.

If Charlotte beats FIU and...
- MTSU beats UAB, MTSU is the East rep.
- UAB beats MTSU and Marshall beats FIU, MTSU is East rep.
- UAB beats MTSU and FIU beats Marshall, FIU is the East rep.

Negative. Marshall is eliminated. Most losses MT can have is two and owns the tiebreak over Marshall.

If FIU beats Charlotte and then Marshall defeats FIU and UTSA MT will rep. If FIU beats Charlotte and then loses to Marshall coupled by a Marshall loss to UTSA FIU reps if MT loses to UAB and MT reps if they defeat UAB.

Geez, this tiebreaker stuff gives me a migraine. All I know is MT has had a couple of real shots to be a solo FB Champeen when we were in the old Funbelt. And both Arkansas State and Troy burst our little bubble. Hope we can just beat UAB (twice) and have Marshall or Charlotte (or both) take down FIU.

I'm hoping for Middle vs UAB...

at least both schools have player(s) thats been in college for 6 or 7 years 03-wink

Part of me would like to see FIU in the championship but I think FIU got lucky with scheduling by playing Rice and UTSA along with Marshall when they are basically out of the running, plus the storm delay early in the season.

I think right now Middle and UAB are playing the best football

Hopefully Little Stock can get through the YUK game unscathed. That’s a good defense up in Lexy, and a pissed off one at that. I’d love nothing more than for them to upset the Kittens.

RE: Conference Championship Race?
Yes unfortunately from a viewer’s POV, the west ended last week and we’ve just got 2 meaningless weeks of football (as far as conference importance). The only goals left for UNT and LaTech are winning 10 games with the bowl. Which are decent enough goals.
