NEW MACC LAY OUT
Wow. There were some changes at the MACC. Granted if you give a second to my threads you know my disdain for Joel and there endless lack of support to MBB. So I would welcome your opinions

1-New Scoreboard is fantastic. High Def and state of the art. I wish you could see more stats on it but really no complaints.

2-VIP Donors lounge- I have passes for this lounge and I enjoy it but now its at the end of court? Its crowded pregame with everyone eating but then it clears out. It is an empty abyss all game. The students were moved from there to one section directly behind our bench. Or they get to go up top. The other end is still a student section.Last night there were a lot of students in the upper section. I think this is a poor move on the AD's part. I think its poor optics and we want more kids there not less. I am sure they pushing for more donors/dollars but I cant stand this move. Put us up in the glass box. Give the kids the seats.

Love to hear your thoughts.

Pretty much agree - With the scoreboard, yeah, it's pretty but I missed having all the numbers up there. I was at the Blue & Gold game, and it didn't have all the usual numbers. With the VIP Donor's Lounge at the end of the court - it does push the students out of one of the areas where they can participate in the action.

I assume that doners lounge is temporary. They did that last year early for games that we're expected to be well attended, then pulled the bleachers back out after a few games. I would guess (and hope) that'll happen again.

RE: NEW MACC LAY OUT
The new center scoreboard/video board is nice but the main stats that the audience would like to keep track of are small and not much definition. Seems to me someone needs to rethink the design of what to display. Right now it doesn't do much for me. I'm not sure what was going on with the corner player stats board either. Did the person in charge of entering numbers fall asleep or what? Stats for various players remained unchanged for minutes on end even though players were scoring points. I found myself keeping track of the playing time by watching the clock above the basket rather than the new board. For me bring back the old board... much easier to follow stats than the new equipment.

Regarding the doners lounge. Who was the bird brain that decided to kick the students out of an area that they've been occupying for years? Makes no sense to me with this move either.

The scoreboard will not be like by real BB fans. The stats are more important pretty videos. As for the new seating, I am in agreement with the above opinion. This move will not encourage more student participation and that should be the focus of our program. Also, it will not look as good on TV.

RE: NEW MACC LAY OUT
I agree with these comments. I missed the student section and where I sit upstairs the corner scoreboards are totally blocked by the main scoreboard. That’s going to be true for about 30% of the upper level seats.
I’d rather see some individual stats on the main scoreboard. At least during the timeouts.

Hundreds of students sitting upstairs while more than half the PSL seats were empty. Continues to be the most head-scratching move of the last two decades.

I am 99 percent certain that the hospitality section courtside is just an occasional thing. They did it a couple of times last season. Once was right after New Years, when there were few students around.

And I suspect all the software for the scoreboard is not working yet and we’ll eventually get stats on the main board. I’ll ask the women’s basketball SID this weekend.

I would almost guarantee the courtside donor section stays all season. It sucks if you are a student but lets face it, everything in college athletics is fundraising-driven these days.

RE: NEW MACC LAY OUT
I'd expect that if it were going to stay they would have pulled out those seats. With as much as they want televised games, I'd think they want students behind the backboards.
I'm glad they got rid of the obnoxious spark plugs.
AS far as the screen, I'm guessing that with technology they expect we can look up stats on our phones. However, in a small arena having a jumbotron does not give us more of a view than we already have. Most seats are close to the action, so looking at the screen is pointless.

RE: NEW MACC LAY OUT
My only complaint with the new screen is that they don't show replays when the refs are reviewing a play. Stats would be nice but who knows how customizable the display is and I always take in game stats with a grain of salt anyways since they're often inaccurate. Frequently they don't even have the right 5 numbers on the court.

My sources say the student section is toast. Don’t expect it back. The seats probably will be removed permanently soon.

Gee I kind of miss the fake lightening bolts.
