Once again, when the project (phase I) is completed the athletic department and university will be proud of it.

Most of the money for the project is DONOR money.

Most of the money is from tuition. Remember power to change pulled their 6 million.

I know that. EMU athletics has more time to collect donations.

it will take longer for them to raise their share.

Good. So be transparent and stop saying that the center is paid for with donor money.
As of Feb 2018 EMU borrowed $20 million for the performance center and other Athletics needs (not the same $ as for the Rec). Athletics needs about another 6 million in donations before anyone can say most of the money is from donors.

TL;DR What you said is not currently true, but I hopefully it will be someday.

Okay. I specifically asked about financing last week while in Ypsi.

EMU athletics has raised about 1/2 of what they need to raise but have years to raise the rest.

You and I are using the same numbers I believe.

So are we now 50% doner and 50% tuition?

I don't want to say too much.

"Most" of the money is to be raised, over time, from donors. The rest is from the university. EMU athletics, like homeowners, pay big ticket items over time.

Remember, the logic is that moving out of Bowen has benefits for the university as a whole, not simply athletics. Hence there is some non athletic monies in the project.

The problem with the withdrawal by the 'name' donor is that it will be hard to raise money to pay Phase I and then raise money for Phase II.

I assume Phase I will get paid off in time...

Go back up and re-read cidbearit's comments.....I bet he takes it 'personal' as well.

2 major reasons that his son chose EMU were Creighton, and facilities enhancements.

You think Creighton hasn't won enough, and makes too much money.
You think the facilities are just fine, and the current improvements are a waste of money.

Your thinking will never yield a Championship football program, so expect continued pushback as long as you continue that type of talk, on this type of board.

Don't take it 'personal'.
I've seen one facility improvement after another and never, not once, has it correlated to better football teams of improved attendance.

CC has been here five years. The reality is that there is a very, very small chance that he'll be here another five. That's the nature of head coaching positions. If he produces better teams he'll be hired away. If he doesn't he'll be released. That's just the way it is.

A football championship was within reach both this year and last absent new facilities. Neither the track around the field nor the old scoreboard caused the team to come up short.

Actually the plans for the football facility has led to improved recruiting as indicated by a parent.

Recruits and parents look for tangible evidence that the program is committed to success and EMU has shown it with CC and improving facilities.

As far as improvements, you have the WRONG sports. The improvements were basketball in 1998.

Everything in football since 1991 (?) has been more maintenance than improvement. IPF, a fairly minimal indoor facility, is the exception.

New lights, new turf, etc. are MAINTENANCE items not major upgrades.

This business of a 'championship' is a pure straw man argument.

The Washington Capitals had not won at championship until this past June. Ever.

The Washington Wizards have not won a championship since they moved to D.C.

The Chicago Cubs went how many generations without winning a World Series?

Once again, the program is on the upswing. I don't see why the negativity...

I'd call ljmhurons a clown but i like clowns
