RE: Fired Coaches Thread
There should be an open line of constant communication between the UAB football program "money people" and FBHC Clark as to what will keep him happy to stay at UAB. There might be a "second stage" of football facility building he desires. It may be enhancement of staff salaries -including his own. There are many such items that could be on Clark's "wish list" and the ones who can provide the funding should be the first to know.

They have up and down years, but it seems like they're mostly up. It took them a couple of years to adjust to being in the Big12, and we seem to forget (especially in this state) that, outside of a few blue bloods, it's pretty rare to reload and expect to compete for a championship every single season.

Something I don't think we're talking about enough on here is UAB's DC. Some school is going to come calling for Reeves. Having a Top-10 defense is going to lead to schools lining up to poach him, like UTSA learned last season.

There is.

That is kind of odd. They were making some real improvement!

They refuse to go much longer without at least bowl eligibility, I imagine.

I think you overestimate the level of football talent in the DC/Baltimore area. There's also a high level of Penn State loyalty here in Maryland for some reason.

There may be that while football statistics are public and get media attention, when the college coach inquires about academics, the quiet figures turn them away. There was a time when a college player could be carried for years while taking a variety of "basket weaving" type courses, but APR has just about ended that practice. Course work must show progress toward a degree, or the player loses eligibility and the program loses scholarships.

Gotcha. I figured the Greater WDC-Baltimore Area was a hotbed for talent.

if he was leaving, they’d already have the deal done public or not. Just like haase long before the regular season was over in his final season here. I’d like Clark to stay forever, but nothing somebody posts on a message board will have much of an impact on what he decides in a few weeks, a few weeks ago, or 5-10 years down the road.
