Only one of those that Clark would even think about is Loserville, but they'll go after Jeff Brohm, who was a QB and Asst. there. If that were offered, it would be a damn hard job to turn down.

It has always puzzled me why The University of Maryland doesn't have the best football and basketball teams. They should be able to recruit squads full of 3 & 4 star guys within 50 miles of campus.

Or they can go somewhere else and live to see 20.

RE: Fired Coaches Thread
Well I'm gonna discuss anyway. I'm probably wrong but I think we mainly have to worry about the SEC and it looks pretty stable this year. SEC country is Coach Clark's country. I would be very surprised to see him leave this region. He could build us to one of the top G5 schools (as well as open the new stadium) and then be in a position for one of the plum SEC jobs. Louisville would definitely be an option though. ACC member and you can win pretty big there. Hopefully they keep looking elsewhere.

True, unfortunately.

I would even go more specific and narrow it to the SEC teams in this state. Hopefully Gus will turn it around for Auburn so that they aren’t looking elsewhere.

Louisville is toxic right now. You don’t want to be the guy who has to clean up the mess. You want to be the next guy after that, in about 4 years.

Louisville basketball was toxic also. But they got a really good coach in Xavier's Chris Mack.

I could be wrong here but I do not think there is anything to worry about in the near future. When we need to start keeping an eye open is about November of season #2 in the new stadium. I do not think he would consider leaving before that.

Not overly concerned either - even if the barner job comes open at the end of the season.
I think he wants to play at the new stadium, get us to a major bowl, & win a conference championship among other things. (like seeing his grandson & family without having to travel out of state)

His father (and Jennifer's - Mr. Boswell) are on up in years too.

If the unthinkable did happen, do you think we'd promote from within or hire another HC?

We should do what we did with Clark. John Grass is 36-1 in conference play since he took over for Clark

Roger that, normally. That said, when you get to the top tier jobs, they only come knocking once in a while. Loserville football is not an elite job, but Louisville MBB brings in the same kind of big money that bammer football does.
I still think that it would not be a good fit for Clark, and that the Crud fans will see UAB's coach as not big enough of a splash for an elite school like Louisville.
My money is still on Brohm.

RE: Fired Coaches Thread
We whipped Gary Patterson’s azz in 2004 when he was but a mid-major coach and program. Now look at what he’s built there. We can do the same—if there is no meddling. But we know there will be, so we must remain ever faithful, ever vigilant.

Doesn't TCU kind of suck now? I'm not totally positive because I don't watch other teams hardly anymore but it seems like they get their clock cleaned a lot more. I guess it could be the conference they are in now.

RE: Fired Coaches Thread
I think Clark can be convinced to stay if:
1. We make him the highest paid coach in CUSA.
2. We commit to success by increasing the recruiting budget and the assistant coaches' salaries.
3. He doesn't get offered a job he can't refuse (Auburn or the like).
I think we can do it, because he WANTS to stay. But he needs the admin to commit to him and this project!
