French President Emmanuel Macron denounced nationalism during an Armistice Day centennial observance in Paris on Sunday.

“Patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism: Nationalism is treason,” Macron said.

I believe Globalism would be the exact opposite of Nationalism, while Patriotism would be a synonym for Nationalism. French. Teacher marrying. Socialist. Bad.

It's almost as if he doesn't know what that word means.

What Macrone problem is that Nationalism conjures up thoughts of Nazi Germany. Even though the word is perfectly fine in the true sense it kind of gives me a bad feeling when it is used. Trump needs to look for a better alternative to it, but I get his drift.

Patriotism would work. But I don't really have a problem with nationalism. That's partly because I understand the definition.

Macaroon needs to look at France's own history with Nationalism, before he starts spouting off on it.

I think that's where he is coming from, and I understand his different perspective based on that. For a Frenchman, patriotism and nationalism may well be opposites.

Trump = economic nationalism = American workers first when it comes to trade deals. And America's sovereignty will never be handed off to Brussels.

Trump doesn't take it from anyone.

I imagine there will be those who blast Trump over these comments. Probably the same folks who were touting Macron's comments calling Trump a traitor.

Guys, France uses a runoff for national elections. Le Pen may win some plurality seats in the EU Parliament but its a long way from winning a EU Parliament seat with 22 percent in a 6 way race to winning the Presidency.

Teresa May soon to follow. Seems to be taking cues from Obama-a horrible deal is better than no deal at all.
