Herman Cain. I love it! He would have been a great president!

I went to see him when his caravan stopped in Bartlett (a suburb of Memphis).

FACTOID: Cain was born in Memphis.

I was all set to vote for him in the 2012 primary but he dropped out. Instead, I voted for Rick Santorum, who happened to win TN.

I was super disappointed when he dropped out. He would have made an awesome nominee for the republican party.

Get well soon RBG, retire, and enjoy some time with your family and hopefully, some grandkids.

And yes I say the same thing about Thomas and Alito.

Wow! Can you imagine the machinations and gnashing of teeth that would occur across the aisle if it suddenly looked like the Donald was going to get to appoint 5 judges! The Cavanaugh hearings would look like Romper Room hijinx by comparison. I bet it would require full body cavity searches for the gallery!

RE: RBG Admitted to hospital
I think that's a Kavanaugh reference (the drunk one)?

I have a pretty conservative friend of mine who feels that if the Senate majority ends up being 54 or above, ACB should replace RBG when and if that possibility can occur. At 53, he's not sure. If it's 52 or less, he says no. Trump should nominate someone more centrist to replace RBG. Trump will still have Murkowski (and maybe Collins although I'm not so sure about her anymore) to worry about if it's 51 or 52. If he gets rid of Mueller, I think he also might have a few more Senators on the fence including maybe even Romney who appears ready to take over Jeff Flake's role as the great moral face of the Republican Senator caucus.

BTW, Collins and a few other R Senators (Ernst in Iowa, maybe Sasse in Nebraska, Gardner in Colorado, maybe Tillis in NC) might have tough re-election races, and there is only one D Senator who likely won't get re-elected (Doug Jones). If it's 54-46, it's not as big of an issue. But if it's 52 or even 51, then I think any SC changes are going to be even crazier than the last two, if that's possible.

You've been smoking something other than ribs if you actually believe that.

President Trump will not nominate anyone to the left of Justice Roberts.

Uhhhh, okay. Sorry to hear that about your grandma.

Would you call that “minor”?

Possibly freezing to death on your own porch? Sounds horrendous to me.

Go check in with the golf cart Gods and spend sometime somewhere sunny and no frozen porches...

But, hey. That’s just me

So, is this why Dims in Florida are working so feverishly to find more votes for Nelson?

He'll have enough votes in the Senate to not have to worry about 1 or 2 with no backbones.

May I suggest that now would be the PERFECT time to nominate Amy Coney Barrett.

If you think the lefties lost their minds over Kavanaugh, just wait.

Yeah, how can they possibly oppose A WOMAN?

Of course, we'll start to hear about all the gang rapes she initiated back in the day.

If Barrett is that same good looking broad (not looking) that was suggested last go around, I’ve already bet that the only approach to ruining her life and career the leftists will have is to drum up some fake financial scandal or similar.

Maybe they accuse her husband of also being a serial rapist and she took pictures or something, but that might be a liars bridge too far even for the unhinged mobs.

Sure as hell be interesting.

Oh, and entertaining. 04-coffee

Supposedly RBG was released from the hospital this morning and back at work today. That seems awfully quick but that was what I heard.

My father will be 76 in Jan. Three weeks ago he had major surgery to remove a cancerous growth and a cyst from his kidney. He's doing very well at the moment.

So, yes, age doesn't mean automatic complications, but it's more likely than not to contribute to complications.

You covered it in your last sentence, but Capt Bearcat and your wife's grandmothers were outliers. Working in health care, I see it all the time--- 80+ year old patient falls and breaks a hip, they never are the same and generally expire shortly thereafter. The trauma from the fracture of a bone that big usually exacerbates some other comorbidity, such as heart disease or diabetes--- they usually die from a heart attack or a stroke.

I have been a critical care RN for 24 years, what Capt said was correct.
When we get 80+ year olds in here, we try to prepare the family for what may happen in the next few months.
They VERY seldom return to their prior selves.
If they were not independent, they often die within 6 months.

She is very independent and active by all accouts

My wife's grandmother was active mentally and physically and living at home (with a single daughter) at 100. But she broke a hip and died within weeks.

Same with my dad. He died at 89 and it was very hard to visit him at the hospital for me. He was always so strong and active and when he broke his hip that was the beginning of the end and it was hard for me to see him stretched out standing up in a contraption. Luckily for him he didn't need to suffer too much in that torture contraption.

For those that are fans of RBG she has her own movie now. I saw the trailer at the movies tonight. I don't think that I need to waste a whole $4 to see it. That's $2 for me and $2 for my wife and I still think it's too expensive.

The media knows se's getting close to croaking, and they want to make her a hero. I can just hear the outrage now, "How dare you replace dishonor the legacy of this heroic woman by replacing her with someone who's not a socialist/communist."
