RE: OOC games
http://warrennolan.com/basketball/2019/conferencerpi has the Conference RPI with the CAA tenth. The CAA is 8-8 OOC against Division I. Last season, the CAA got off to a bad start and improved. Early in the season, the RPI is messed up. The ACC is first in the Conference RPI and is the only undefeated conference, but it has a Conference RPI of .4639, and 23 out of 32 conferences were above that last season.

RE: OOC games
The loss to BU still bothers me. NU should be 2-0 right now. Tough to play though when we are missing 2 starters. One being DPOY and the other being our key fundamentals guy (great at boxing out and finding open spots under the basket). Hopefully they some back to the lineup soon.

Anyway, I really hope the CAA can have a good OOC season. NU, CoC, Hofstra, and W&M should all be good enough to get some serious quality wins. If we can get other teams to hold their own we should be in for a good season as a conference.

Still early. Hard to gauge where everyone is. Definitely some good opportunities out there by our upper teams

Todays NU win over Ala just reinforces they are best team in CAA at this point. 2nd probably a battle between 4 different teams

You guys in Charleston have looked very good so far. Hofstra have been pretty good too. W&M should only get better as the year goes on. Don't try to jinx us! 05-mafia

JMU beat Charlotte at Charlotte. Charlotte beat a power 5 team earlier in season. JMU could be dangerous

RE: OOC games
William & Mary was supposed to be the better Virginia team, but maybe not. William & Mary is 1-2. They're at Notre Dame today and have to go to Marshall and Virginia. Charlotte beat Oklahoma State, but Charlotte was bad last season. They had 5 Division I wins and had a 15 game losing streak that ended when they won their last game, which wasn't enough to qualify them for the Conference USA Tournament.

Nobody seems to be expecting much out of Drexel this year, but they did their job helping out the CAA today with a nice Atlantic-10 road win over La Salle 89-84.

RE: OOC games
The CAA won only 3 of their first 9 weekend games before winning the last two. In tonight's only game, Delaware won 75-71 hosting Louisiana Tech. Delaware scored 2 more in each half. Delaware were 5.5 point underdogs, but the Sagarin with home court advantage had them losing by 2. Either way, it's an upset. Louisiana Tech had the best Sagarin in Conference USA.
Louisiana Tech was 76 spots better in last season's RPI. It's good to get a win against a conference that could finish near the CAA in the Conference RPI, and it improves the CAA to 3-2 against Conference USA.

From Tuesday through Sunday, CAA teams play 13 out of 19 games at home, with 1 non-Division I game.

RE: OOC games
The CAA went 2-0 yesterday, including a non-Division I win by Elon. The CAA went 3-2 yesterday. Tonight's only game had James Madison favored by 20 hosting winless Coppin State. Coppin State's largest lead was 11 late in the first half, and they led 34-24 at halftime. Missed free throws allowed James Madison to tie it at 63 with 3.5 seconds left, and James Madison won 81-71 in overtime. James Madison made up a 10 point deficit in the second half without making a three. They made 1 three in the first half and 3 threes in overtime.

RE: OOC games
The CAA went 4-4 yesterday but lost 2 games as favorites at home, and the CAA fell to 19th in the Conference RPI. Today Delaware made 15 of 23 threes (.652) in an 87-86 double overtime win at Columbia, who made 13 of 25 threes (.520). With Delaware down 2, Darian Bryant made the winning three with 20 seconds and then blocked a shot. He had 7 points and 6 assists. Delaware had three players score at least 20. Eric Carter had 21 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 assists. Matt Veretto and Ithiel Horton scored 20. Veretto made 6 of 7 threes and Horton made 4 of 7 threes. Kevin Anderson had 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. He made 3 out of 5 threes but 1 out of 10 twos. Mike Smith had 31 points and 5 steals for Columbia, while Quinton Adlesh scored 19 and made 5 out of 8 threes. The teams combined to shoot twos .400 and threes .583.

Delaware is 7-2 (5-2 vs. Division I). Their next 6 games have 3 winnable home games and 3 tough away games. They host Navy, host St. Francis (PA), go to Stony Brook, host Delaware State, go to Hofstra, and go to Northeastern. They have their trips to Hofstra, Northeastern, and Charleston within their first 6 CAA games. Their last 2 CAA games are hosting Northeastern and Hofstra.

Number 25 Furman is ranked for the first time, and tonight they will be the second ranked team to play at Elon this season after the Schar Center opened with North Carolina there.

RE: OOC games
Charleston won 83-79 at VCU. Both team had turnovers and missed free throws in the last 4 minutes. VCU shot two-pointers well, but made 6 of 27 threes and 19 of 30 free throws. Riller and Brantley were the top two scorers on either team. Riller scored 30 while making 10 of 14 field goals, 3 of 4 threes, and 7 of 8 free throws. He raised his percentage shooting threes from .227 to .271. He had only 1 assist, which lowers his average from 5.7 to 5.3. Brantley had 26 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. 4 steals ties his career high, which he did three times before, most recently on February 25, 2017.

Furman had an easy time scoring against both CAA teams. They won 98-77. Today they won 93-50 hosting UNCW. Cacok entered averaging 14.9 points, 11.7 rebounds, 0.8 blocks, and 1.2 steals. He had 11 points, 5 rebounds, and no assists, blocks, or steals. Jeantal Cylla entered averaging 13.8 points. He scored 7 and made 2 of 14 field goals, although even if he made all of his UNCW would have lost. Furman had only 5 turnovers. Clay Mounce, who entered averaging 11.7 points, scored 26. He made 10 of 17 field goals including 6 of 11 threes. He had 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. He became the first player since at least 2010-2011 to have at least 26 points, 6 threes, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

There is a good reason Rillers assists went down. Now that our starting point guard is back off injury Riller no longer has to play the point majority of the game.

RE: OOC games
Pointer didn't have great statistics last season. Last season Pointer had 2.2 assists per 30 minutes and Riller had 1.8. Riller has 2 assists per turnover so far this season. Isn't making Pointer the point guard trying to fix what ain't broke? You don't have to go with your plan if everybody had started the season healthy. Riller has 10 fouls in 11 games. I wonder how rare it is to average over 20 points and under 1 foul. If Pointer starts, do you move Jasper or Galloway to the bench? Galloway has better statistics, but yesterday he was scoreless and Jasper scored 13 in 1 more minute.

Delaware's Ryan Allen is playing his first game now.

Congratulations to CofC. They’ve been excellent in the OOC schedule. Been saving the CAA’s bacon during this portion of the schedule.

Considering your misfortune with injuries you have not done bad your self. I expect you to be very tough when healthy. Hofstra has also won their share and Delaware has surprised a few

RE: OOC games
Hofstra won 71-64 at Stony Brook, but Pemberton got hurt. I don't know how bad it was, and I wonder if he was playing hurt. In his first seven games, he averaged 17.4 points. In his next seven games ending with the game before tonight, he averaged 11.5, and his scoring decreased each game. He scored 5 in his game before tonight and 4 in 16 minutes tonight.

Delaware lost 73-71 hosting Delaware State. Delaware was favored by 21.5. Delaware State entered 0-8 vs. Division I with every loss by at least 16. They had the worst Sagarin and third worst NET of 353 teams. Ithiel Horton made a three to tie it with 18 seconds left. Delaware State missed a three, got the offensive rebound, and made a layup with 1 second left. There was enough time left for Horton to attempt a three, but it missed. I don't know how far down the court he was.

Georgia State won 86-71 hosting UNCW. Cacok had 3 points and 5 rebounds.
