I really like Littleson. Dude hustles and will help us win games. We are deep at guard.

Navigato is dangerous...as a 3 guard posting up. When they didnt have three big men in...he back down his man with ease

Fun game, but not real impressed.

Luke got into foul trouble, which I think will be the game plan against them. Get him in foul trouble and there is no backup. Edu can't play inside, especially against a guy with meat. Really, we have nobody that can - see the 30 points put up by their big guy. No answer for him at all.

Lost the turnover battle 13-3. Good thing they made free throws.

They did win the rebounding, which is good.

I thought they looked a bit confused at times, but given this is the first game with new people that's to be expected I would guess. The refs sucked, the floor sucked, and the announcers sucked.

They should win this game tonight I would think. Hoping to see some more of the younger guys. Edu was not too impressive, but he did make one good move to the basket.

Wednesday at Wright St. will be a test. ESPN+ so we have to pay to see that one. Decisions, decisions, decisions...

If he can provide a perimeter defense or gain 100 lbs and play the paint. Need that 6'7"-6'9" big body guy and I don't see anyone on the bench can fill that role. I wonder how that will match us up in conference? Buffs have two 250 guys, CMU one, EMU one 260 and two 240s, Kent one, Miami two, NIU two, OU one, Ball St Two, BG three, WMU and Akron we might match up with Knapke.

We'll play good ball but I think what we saw at Oakland is going to be a general theme. We haven't shown the perimeter D to keep the ball out of the middle (or apparently to slow down a strong 3-pt team) and we don't have a body to stop the middle from doing what it wants. Something needs to get in the way of that pass.

I only caught the last minute of the 1st half and the full 2nd half. Littleson plays with great confidence and it seems like he has the respect of the rest of the team. Seems like he should be good once the team gels with the new people. He missed that FT late, but it could happen to anybody. You could tell he felt bad because it was big and on him. Looks like Darrington is ready to help out, too. Wright State game will be interesting. I think we're gonna need some defense, though. (yeah, about that....)

H2O wrote "One big surprise for me was Navigato doing a reasonable Kevin McHale imitation with a couple of nice interior plays."

I know Navigato prefers playing on the perimeter. He is one of the best there is from beyond the arc and his presence on the perimeter opens up space inside for others to operate on offense but he is 6'8 225lbs. and a defensive liability against quick guards and wings. With this roster he will have to get comfortable spending minutes closer to the basket. Logan Hill apparently isn't ready to contribute.

If the box is correct, he didn't get a minute.

Interesting point was as the game ended and TK is going to shake hands with Greg Kampe, TK looked at MOB right behind the bench and they both gave each other a fist pump. This was more than just a normal opener. Good competition on a tough away court. Sense that there is a little urgency on the UT side for this season. hope they can deliver on the expectations.

big game in area mid major pecking order. Oakland has been to some NCAAs and mostly owned us and other MAC teams at their place. To go in their in front of a loud crowd and pull it out was big. UT is not a dominant type team. They need to learn how to make clutch plays as a team and win close games. This was a key victory. Remember our really good year with Juice, Boothe, Pierson, etc... when we beat Boston College in the opener. Similar game and getting the win helped us go on a roll. Wright St is pretty good and has a solid home court advantage so that will be another test against one of the regions better mid majors.

RE: Toledo vs. Oakland game thread
Didn't know the Rockets were in town until it flashed on my DVR that the game was coming on one of the channels. I would have driven the 4 miles to go watch it live if I knew they were playing at Oakland.

Sanford looked very good and Darrington looks to have great potential at the point. He and Jackson will be fighting for playing time against each other. The guy getting the most playing time will be the one that plays the best defense and can hit some shots and drive the lane to score or dish off.

Everyone else has hit on the fact we have no bulk inside and that will be tough to overcome. Knapke still struggles holding on to the ball or catching passes when he is wide open under the basket.

Didn't realize Littleson was from Adams HS, which is less than 2 miles from my house (also where Madonna went to HS) and then another 2 miles to get to Oakland U's arena.

It was great to start the season with a close road win in a tough environment against a very good mid major program.
