Knollwood Tavern, Wayside West and Bilbo's were the 3 go to places when I attended. At least one is still going strong.

Loved Bilbos for food, Wayside West and Knollwood Tavern for drink.

There used to be a restaurant at the corner of West Michigan Avenue and Academy Street called-I think-'Schwarz's Chalet' that we used to eat at once in awhile. They had good breakfasts there. There was a Burger King across the street from them-it's a Walgreens now-the we picked up food from now and then when I was in non-food Spindler Hall.

There was a good restaurant in the Hilton (it's a Radisson now) Hotel that we ate at on special occasions. We ate there when my brother and his friend graduated in 1979 (I was already in Detroit working for Chrysler, came back to celebrate with them.)

And of course there was Galley Subs, I can't believe they are gone now. That was a fixture on the west end of Campus for a long, long time.

This list is terrible.

My picks:
Waldo's, Wayside, Bilbo's (on campus, not the Stadium Dr. location), Maggie's, and Big Burrito (2am and later only)

I've become fond of Arcadia.

The beer is just as good as Bells, the food is outstanding (better than Bells), and I love the location along the river.

Not really a student place, but I'm no longer a student.

For that vibe, there is The Old Goat and The Library.

The Crow's Nest is tough to beat for breakfast.

Roma's take out was great. Bilbos (old location), Burdicks (half off for students on Sunday), there was a breakfast/bagel shop on Westnidge near Ranney St that was awesome, also breakfast at Theo and Stacies or Maggies old location, and of course I can't count the # of times i grabbed a Jimmy Johns on the walk home from campus.

Again not really a student place, but the Beer Exchange is still my favorite. Good food and great beer selection

One trip to Galley Subs was with a football player attempting to break time record for eating a 36 inch sub so it was free.
He succeeded & I later learned he had no money with him to pay if he failed.

LOL. He'd probably choke it down if he had to!

The subs at The Galley in the original (shack) location are still the best sub sandwiches I ever had in my life. Nothing before or since has even come close.

They were sunday night dinner when I was in the Dorm. I agree, they were awesome.

Those were the days, the early 1970's in Kalamazoo. Great times. I don't know how anyone could complain about that.

Agree on the galley. I was there way too much and it was the Sunday evening choice for me.

For a special treat (family in town visiting) I loved going to The Great Lakes Steak Company. Their surf and turf was the best. I believe that it burned down while I was finishing up at WMU. Was sad to hear.

I do not remember fire at Great Lakes.
They just closed after 44 years in business.
