RE: Basketball Non-Conf Games Thread
With the limited action we have so far, and kind of merging that in with pre-season expectations, these are my current power rankings in the conference. I know most disagree with my EMU placement

1. Buffalo
2. Ball State
3. Toledo
4. Central Michigan
5. Kent State
6. Eastern Michigan
7. Miami-OH
8. Ohio
9. Akron
10. Western Michigan
11. Northern Illinois
12. Bowling Green

Akron hit back to back 3's and is down 4 against #19 Clemson with just under 4 minutes remaining

Since Keno Davis took over, CMU has not shot less than 71% from the FT line. Currently shooting under 60%. It's gonna be a long year if that does not get corrected. We have some real talent this year but it's a necessity to shoot 70% from the line.

CMU was highly undervalued coming into this season

WMU played an in-season home and home with High Point several years ago. That was the only time I remember that happening for WMU.

We’re they the High Points of your season? Sorry, but it had to be said.

I guess I undervalued Akron too , great showing by the Zips. I can never remember the MAC having this high of a basement. Your bottom teams like NIU, WMU, and BG are not bad for being your bottom

I think your bottom might settle with Ohio. BG looks much better than them at this point. NIU is a question mark with the only game to judge them on an OT loss to a good mid major. This week should give us a real look at Toledo and Akron,

BG has had some stat lines that worry me when extrapolating against better competition.

WMU has the ability to scrap and play with other similar teams. Dont think they stand much of a chance again Cincinnati tonight. My guess is they struggle to hit 50 points tonight.

Curious as to what would rank EMU at 6th, other than getting massacred by the best team in the country and not playing well when our best player was hurt.

Tonight should be a decent barometer for where EMU currently is. Rutgers isn't very good, but they're still a P5 team. Winnable game.

EMU has some talent and should be higher. Duke is awesome and destroyed UK as well so that loss means nothing. Almost everyone will get crushed by Duke this season.

I’m watching EMU vs Rutgers and EMU is losing bad. 19-2 in the 1st.
I think I will take back my statement to rank them higher. Wow!

It took them 50 seconds of the second half to match their scoring output from the first half.

Looks like a step backward today. One win and that was a last second putback to beat Hampton. Tomorrow has to be better?

edit: I missed Toledo beating FGCU, so it's not quite so bad.

Toledo obliterates a historically good FGCU team by 28 in Florida. Rockets get a test tomorrow against an elite mid major in Louisiana.
