Full (or more complete, anyway) video. Acosta was completing a question, Trump starts in on him personally, he maintains composure and asks a 2nd question, girl moves in for the mic, he gets the second question asked and hands the mic to her, Trump then goes into a non sensical tirade about how Acosta should "treat people," which is laughable. Kudos to the NBC reporter afterwards.
The clip you linked actually answers some of my questions and implies answers to others.
How did he get the mic?
- Did he bring it with him, and thus the subsequent sound system to which it was connected?
- Was it a mic provided by the press?
- Was it a mic provided by the administration?
the clip seems to imply this
Why was he holding it?
- Is it standard practice to pass the mic from journalist to journalist?
- Does a rep from the administration pass the mic?
the clip shows this
- Does a rep from the administration normally hold the mic for the journalist? If so, back to the initial question of how he got the mic.
So, based on what appears to be the standard procedure, the administration rep passes the mic to the journalist recognized by the president.
In this case Acosta was recognized and given the mic.
At some point the POTUS decided to recognize someone else.
The girl was doing her job and tried to retrieve the mic.
Acosta wouldn't give up control of the mic.
If this is an accurate account then it appears Acosta was in the wrong for not relinquishing the mic and also for preventing the girl from doing her job.
Is the karate chop he laid down on her enough to swear out a warrant for simple assault? I don't know.
But, in my opinion, he continues to show he tends toward narcissism.
