In 2016, the conference paid out more than $28.6 million to it's members....

So only paying out 2.86 million per year to teams. That seems really low quite frankly.

So why would UConn leave the AAC where schools not getting any money from the exit fees are still getting between 5.41 and 3.59 million normally(and that was in the year before UCF made the NY6 game).

If you say TV deal is 500 million for 12 years so 41 million per year- lets see from the article----
The conference received over $31.5 million in rights fees from FOX in 2015 and more than $32.8 million in 2016, according to tax records obtained by Forbes.com.

So it looks like probably what happened was the Big East(and quite possibly the C7 only) got a pretty hefty signing bonus to help start things up with the new league.

The conference received over $31.5 million in rights fees from FOX in 2015 and more than $32.8 million in 2016, according to tax records obtained by Forbes.com. Figures for 2017 were not available.

Ackerman said other revenue streams include ticket sales and sponsorships, noting “we have ancillary streams from our tournament, which is sort of a high-cost event.”

Right. But they're only paying out the schools $28.6 million.. $2.86 million is really low per school as a conference distro.

And getting 31.5 and 32.8 million from Fox is definitely not the 41 million per year that folks were assuming.

It's possible the article was wrong with its allocations, or it's possible - assuming the figures are indeed correct - that there is a 4% increase each year, with a selected amount of money that was paid up front. If this was the case, this would project the per year payout on an increasing scale.

Year - Value (in Millions)
2016 - $31.5
2017 - $32.8
2018 - $34.2
2019 - $35.6
2020 - $36.9
2021 - $38.4
2022 - $40
2023 - $41.6
2024 - $43.2
2025 - $45

That equals 379.2 million, leaving 120.8 million still left over. Going back and reverse-engineering the scale amount for the prior years:

2015 - $30.25
2014 - $29.1

That would mean that a total of $61.5 million that would had to have been paid up front, assuming that there is a sliding scale of 4% growth each year.

Your numbers seem to be reasonable... You would think maybe a 63 million bonus- payable 9 million to each of the C7 at the time of signing????

But even with that- the distro to the schools seems pretty low- doesn't it to you?

It amuses me with Big East fans....

They say they hate the P5 label because they want to be part of it....

Then in a laughable type scores thread, they literally post that Gonzaga(yeah that's right #3 Gonzaga) is beating Texas A&M(that's right, unranked) by 17. How is that an upset????? But they would say for Texas A&M that's a less important game for them than the Aggies games with Boston College or Oregon St in a few weeks...

There's a saying out there.... stupid labels are stupid.

DePaul wound up taking down PSU in overtime. Of all the BE teams to win their game, given this belief PSU could be a tournament team, wow.

It’s going to be interesting watching Davidson and Wichita’s seasons. You get another one of those kind of games today with St. Joe’s and UCF.

Of course laughable event last night was the Syracuse/UConn game......

Not that Uconn won the game- although that was pretty funny....

But that the uniform of the coaches kid was misspelled is just LOL funny. You would think 40 years of Boeheim being there, they'd know how to spell his name.

Something tells me that is going to be fixed before this afternoon's game with Oregon.

Really, no, you're not obsessed with the Big East. No, no, you're acting completely non-obsessed.

The thread that you're referencing is on another website, meaning that no one here has any idea of what you are talking about.

That thread is titled "Non-Big-East Games Of Interest", ok? It's not the same as this thread, titled "Laughable Scores", right?

I listed scores that our fans might find interesting, like IUPUI beating Boston College, Northeastern beating Alabama, and unranked Iowa beating #13 Oregon.

I included #3 Gonzaga cuz i'm interested in what they're doing, and because i had the game on as i typed at midnight, and because it was a blowout vs a good Texas A&M team, which beat Providence and last year in the NCAA's and then blew out UNC in Charlotte 2 days later.

Now that I've explained things to you, can you like, leave us the **** alone? Like, forever? Maybe get a girlfriend or start a hobby like collecting model trains or become a philatelist or a numismatist or a sucrologist... just stop being a freakin stalker and go away.

I've cleaned this garbage up. A few points to the board.

1. If somebody posts something offensive or stalks you report it. There are endless threads with many posts in them and we don't read all of it. It is your responsibility to report a post and then it is ours to deal with it. It is not our responsibility to find problems, just solve them.

2. You don't discuss moderation in an open post but rather by PM. Especially don't tick us off by criticizing moderation for a post not reported and it really irritates us when you bring up issues from other sites as it has nothing to do with our board or the thread it is posted in.

3. When you are going of the rails and I PM you it is not my fault if I ban your sorry butt because you ignore the PM and keep racking up the offenses.
