Thomas Smallwood!!!
Chattanooga defeated Charlotte tonight 80-69.
Thomas Smallwood started and scored 14 points shooting 5 of 9 from the field with 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. He was 4 of 5 from three point range.

Great start for a former Blazer

RE: Thomas Smallwood!!!
Thanks for Smallwood. He won't be all conference, but he will definitely help us. I am guessing he just didn't fit UAB style of play. Our new coach runs basically the Wisconsin style offense which utlizes "bigs" who can shoot from outside. We get another post eligible in December and then Smallwood will probably play even less in the paint and more outside.

Norton had 19pts with 5/6 from 3 in 20 minutes of exhibition action last week. He also had 3 steals and 6 rebounds.

RE: Thomas Smallwood!!!
I’ve got a little bit of an inside track on Drake. Norton has basically been given the green light to shoot from wherever he thinks he can hit the rim

To round it out, Deion Lavender is starting for Valpo and scored 9 points in their opening win over Concordia. He played 25 minutes, went 4-6 and had 5 assists.

Everyone who transferred that is playing this year is starting for their new team.

Happy that all the guys are doing well but very disappointed they're doing it elsewhere. Norton is the one that hurts the most.

Smallwood had 18 points and 18 boards last night, albeit in a game against a D2 team. Currently through 3 games he is averaging 14.7 ppg and 10.7 rpg. Other 2 games were against D1 teams.

He was a crowd favorite but man he was slow and couldn't jump.

I've not seen the UTC system but its hard to imagine he is competing and succeeding at a D1 school.

he did/does have a very nice shot release. It always looks like was going in the bucket.

They apparently play a very Wisconsin-like system, that utilizes big men who are shooters well. That fits his game. Plus, maybe somebody finally coached him up.

Developing players...what a concept.

I watched Wisconsin beat stew out of Xavier last night. The Badgers bigs were highly skilled to play that type of defense and rebounding.

I still stand by my observation that Smallwood lacks athletic ability like speed and jumping to be effective at a D1 school.

I did like him. That tattoo was insane to get as a bench rider too.
