I'm tempted to subscribe to espn+ for the month. Lots of fun ooc games to tune into. Seems like a pretty good deal. Are replay games available or is it only live streaming?

Tuning into caa TV to watch other team's broadcasts it is very easy to see that the tribe broadcast is lightyears ahead of other schools. Video quality, Camera angles, on screen graphics, & commentary are very professional. Looks closer to espn quality in comparison to our peers.
I had intended to only do the 7 day trial when I signed up Tuesday, but after seeing how many more games of interest it had, beyond ESPN/ESPN2/ESPN3, I am hooked for $4.99/mo thru bball season. Yes, they have replays. They, also, have much of the G League schedule, so, easy viewing of Daniel and Connor, though their game tonight is not on it.

I had commented the other night how well Kaplan showed on CAAtv, as opposed to Davidson/Belk and others on ESPN+, but a Davidson family member who has it told me ESPN+ appears darker for some reason than other broadcasts. Still a bargain. Problem is you find yourself flipping back and forth between so many games and not getting any work done. It is on Roku. All A10 games are on it.

RE: MBB - CAA and OOC Teams
My only points of reference were the couple CAA TV games from opening night. Both JMU and the Northeastern broadcast looked like a local high school telecast. They were dark with sound issues. They lacked variety in camera angles and the graphics seemed dated and simple. Much respect to what our production crew pulls off with what we know is a limited budget.

ESPN+ comes with my ESPN Insider membership, which also includes a subscription to ESPN The Magazine, for just a couple more dollars a month.
Something to consider.

Watching this NE / Harvard game. Their guard play is going to be a tough match up this season. They return starters Pusica and Gresham, defensive stopper Occeus, & last seasons 6th man of the year Brace. They added Roland, a transfer guard from GW off the bench, who is 7-10 from 3 and finished with 35. He is not shy about getting his shots up. They have depth and size inside as well. It is no wonder they are picked atop the CAA. Talented team.

NE guards accounted for 69 of the teams 81 points in the win. Our young guards are going to have their hands full

Nice bounce back by NE.

St. Joe's handled ODU easily, 79-64.

Elon....double ouch to UNC. Not the way to open a $42M facility. What I saw Tuesday night, they are even slower and less athletic than last year. I don't see them crawling out of last place, and I can't imagine Matheny survives after this year.

Hofstra took 3/4 of a game to put away a very bad Mt St Mary's.

UNCW still does not look ready to move back to the upper CAA with a double digit home loss to Stanford, picked to finish 9th in the Pac12.

JMU leading at ECU early in the 2nd half.

Best score of the night. Longwood beat Richmond, 63-58!!!!!!!!!!!
They actually had a thread on their message board the last couple of weeks discussing whether they could average 90 pts this year. Best offense in the nation last year and we didn't sniff 90. Just delusional. They scored 58 tonight.

George Mason lost to American at home in OT.

A10 sucks!!

Well before his concussion as a Junior he was a key 6th man his sophomore year. His stats:

Play in 31 games and start 2 averaging playing 18.8 minutes per game while scoring 7.7 per game and hitting 33% of his 3's.

Tuned in to some of this game. Did I mention how cool this espn+ is?
General observations from our upcoming Gotham opponents:
- UIC wants to play extremely physical and they foul a lot. 28 against ND and 23 against Radford. It will be important to hit free throws--something we didn't well enough against HP.
- Both UIC and Radford or guard heavy scoring teams. Greater than 50% of both teams scoring comes from the guard spots.
- Radford has shot the ball well so far. Avg 50% fgs, 56% 3's (avg 15 makes per game) , 73% fts. We have to defend better.
- On the flip side, ND hasn't shot well at all so far. Avg 40% fgs, 26% 3's. Feasting on the offensive rebound Avg 18 each game.
- UIC and Radford go as far as their guards take them. There is some length inside, but I don't think either team has a big polished enough to handle Nate/Mehkel inside. UIC especially struggled with Radford blocking/altering shots.

Going by stats of 2 games isn't a great sample size, but it is what I got.

Delaware gets the OT win at St. Peter's. Delaware will be a surprise come conference play, assuming they get Ryan Allen back, in combo with Kevin Anderson (who probably would have been ROY last year if injury hadn't ended his season before conference play.)

High Point lost at home tonight to a good Wofford team, 68-60. Kamga and Proctor had 9 and 7 pts, respectively. Certainly not the POY games they had against us.

Watch out for JMU this year. If they can keep doing this they will be in the top part of CAA as last year they had innumerable close losses when in the final 2 minutes of games that they were winning.

CofC with a nice 66-55 win over Rhode Island. Charleston extended their home winning streak to 18, second longest in the country.

UNCG handles UNCW easily in Wilmington, 82-61. UNCG is good, but to lose that bad at home???

UD with expected 100-62 win over Chestnut Hill.

George Mason remains winless with a 98-89 loss at GA Southern.

Caught some of the Richmond/St. Francis game earlier on ESPN+.

What a terrible idea to play a "businessman's lunch" game at 11am on a Wednesday. Just dumb.

Richmond won handily, but both teams were very poor.

Could not help but think how fortunate we are that original targets, Sherod and Golden, did not commit to us, and instead we got Justin and Nate. Maybe it's just reflective of how much better all talent develops in our program, but I wouldn't make a trade for anything. No comparison at this stage.

MBB - CAA and OOC Teams
Everything seems to work out in recruiting. I remember often being disappointed by guys signing elsewhere only to have "plan b" be a better fit and develop above and beyond expectations. In fact, I remember when Justin committed, I liked him but worried his commitment would mean these other "better" recruits I liked would get away. Shows what I know. I put my faith in these coaches eye for recruiting. Guys we recruit have done well here or gone on to be all conference performers at other schools.

I'm also not upset that Matt Grace "got away". I like who we got.

Radford-63, Notre Dame-60. They did it without, arguably their best player, Carlik Jones, who was suspended. Radford stole any thunder we may have hoped for on Saturday. Well coached, confident and play great defense. They may be our toughest opponent to date next week. Another very good, OOC home game.
