RE: 2019 Duke Club Changes
Long story short...
Starting in 2019 you will be required to donate an additional $50 per seat for priority level football tickets. (i can't recall the upper level prices)
Priority Seats = $50 per seat + $168 price = $218 per seat for 2019 Football Season
In order to qualify for P Lot parking, you will need to donate at the Silver level in additional to the above (P Lot if popular here and I can't recall others)
Silver = $750 - $999
Change Summary
--
- Seat Donation now required in addition to ticket price
- Donations to tax deductible, Proud and True Fund, are required for your parking level access.
I"m really simplifying this, but that's the fast version. You should watch the replay if you get a chance.

RE: 2019 Duke Club Changes
Only so much JMU could do.
Basically just broke up the charges and made things more complicated so a portion can be tax deductible.
I can see how this might hurt donations/revenues.
Congress sucks.....

RE: 2019 Duke Club Changes
A P Lot Pass and 4 priorities requires:
a tax deductible Proud and True Fund Donation of at least $750,
a non deductible Seat Fund Donation of $200, and
$672 for tickets.
Total $1,622

How's that compare to current price (including the fact 2018 tix prices were pro-rated)?

If my math is right, 4 tickets and Silver level is about $1225 this year (with some fees). The price increase for P lot seems about right. Most of my fellow P lotters have been expecting it for years.
LOVE that you can buy hospitality access at Silver and up under this model.

RE: 2019 Duke Club Changes
Was wondering how this would play out, but they didn't have a choice in the matter and it's actually not terrible. At least they were still able to keep the largest portion (at least for those of us in priority) tax deductible. That's a big chunk of change. Does that mean the $750 for P-lot is 100% tax deductible now?
Yes, the required dollars went up, but in the scenario Bill posted, $950 total and $750 deducible means in that scenario it's almost 80% deductible still. If you only get two priority seats, it's nearly 90% deductible. It's not as straight-forward on the front end, but if the above is how it works, then on the tax end it actually takes all the math out of the equation.
And yeah Deez, I'm not sure there's been a better deal around the country than P-lot for price, quality, and proximity to stadium. Been there for a decade and while it's not the insane deal it was when I first parked there, it's still very good. After the influx of people trying for P-lot this year, we might see it drop back down to a normal rate next year with the increased cost.
Interesting that they're still splitting out the required per-seat, non-tax-deductible donation from the cost of the seat even though it basically just becomes part of the cost of each seat. I guess to be up front with how they'll do the accounting for adding up Duke Club vs. Athletics dollars?

RE: 2019 Duke Club Changes
So for someone like myself who lives too far to get season tickets but wants priority points for playoffs etc. what’s the deal?
I am already in top 350 or so in priority but can I just donate for parking even though I may not use it? Or since I don’t do season tickets can I donate like I do now and just get the deduction and priority points?

I'm assuming whatever amount you included for tickets this year also had the pro-rated discount for only having 5 home games right?

Let's hear from the tax accountants. Don't you think the tax deductability is a moot point as the standard deduction is going up to 24000 for married couples. Thus, a large percentage of people won't itemize anymore.

YEP. if you don't itemize over 24k, it's moot.

"I think" you can donate to get priority points for the playoffs.
"I think" you still need season tickets to get parking.

Concur. If you don't buy season tickets they don't slip you a parking pass for your donation. You would have to buy one ticket if the pass is what you need.

To add to that, as a semi-counter point: it doesn't have to be a 'priority' ticket that requires a seat donation. You could get a GA ticket that's pretty cheap and sell it every game to make up your money. The marketplace deal they have with Stubhub makes it really easy (or you could just sell them all on here or the JMU FB ticket facebook group).

If coming to town for a game, you could call the Duke Club, and they could probably get you a pass for a random game.

Thanks. Not worried about pass as yes they will give me one if I buy a ticket.
Just really trying to understand if I get the priority points for making my normal deduction.

If all you're doing is straight donation to the 'Proud and True' fund, you're actually in a better situation, since you'll now have that be 100% tax deductible.

Oh, I guess I will just have to spend the time to watch the video. However, I don't really understand the notion that we can't get A, B or C unless we make a tax-deductible donation to the Proud and True Fund. I thought the whole point of the separate tax-deductible fund was that it was not supposed to be tied to benefits.
