I did my 1st 2 years out at Rays in Blue Ash starting in 79 and then transferred to main campus to finish up.

Remember McDonalds in the top part of the student union? Remember the game room with the pool tables and bowling alleys in the basement?

How about the News Record office just down the hall from Mr. Jims?

I remember 1st year chem with Bruce Ault giving pre-lab instructions over the black and white TV monitors prior to doing the labs.

If I could ever figure out how to post pics again I have one of that McDonalds. And spent many good times in the game room winning the fraternity bowling title, shooting pool and destroying a few guys in epic table tennis matches. Plus happy hour at the Rhine Room led to some interesting video game challenges.

Do you remember the night when TUC was turned into a huge concert venue with different bands playing in separate rooms throughout the building. New wave band Red Math played in the game room, Rubber Soul played upstairs, and a R&B funk band played in Great Hall.

And yes, I remember the News Record office since I wrote for the paper for 2 years.

Right next to the WFIB campus radio newsroom as I recall...

One quarter I had two hamburgers, a large fries and a large drink for lunch every day at that McDonalds.

And I took a bowling class at that bowling alley, and met one of the janitors three days a week from 1-2 to play pinball.

WFIB was in CCM (i think) when I DJ'd a few times in 82. I might have a few vinyls and the door name plate in my possession. Maybe...at this age I might be mistaken. Statute of limitations, Mark?

Now, if we are talking what's hanging up in the Cintas Center....different story.

Edit: No Natty or Final Four banners there. Stick that in your pipe, Not Duane.

You haven't hung a significant banner since Cronin.

You also haven't checked the news update in the Arkansas-PB thread.

But ostriches do that, so I'm not surprised.

Would it shock you to know that I've been affiliated with UC over half my life? Began as an undergrad, did my post-grad, and my RA there. I'm now faculty.

Remember when Mr. Jim's Steak House was part of the Student Union? My family used to eat at the actual restaurant on Reading Rd. before it closed.

I remember my first parking sticker on campus back in 81...I was in the C-Lot...that was a long walk to class. I took O-Chem from Belletiere and Pinhas and Kaplan (God rest his soul) and Physiology in Baldwin from Dan Gist.

John Trela was on my graduate committee--he discovered the enzyme employed in PCR (you can look that up) his grad student at the time was Jerilyn VerHoven.

Remember when the bookstore was attached to the Physics building?

I watched Sander come down from the top floor of the EPA where I worked for a time.

On rainy nights I can head home from Nippert by short-cutting through the engineering building and you can stay inside all the way to Crosley.

I frequently stop by some of the departments I've worked in over in Reivischel to say hello to the staff. I was part of the renovation for the chemistry department freshman labs back in 2010-11 under the supervision of Bruce Ault.

I left there to re-enter research over at the Med Center for a couple of years followed by an appointment as an ACA in Biology. The most recent news there is that we are getting a new A&S dean to replace Ken Petren, to go with our new department head Dr. Culley.

I get IT updates almost daily from Yu-Chin Fu regarding spam and software updates.

Oh...and my father taught at the college of engineering for a time. He is now retired from General Electric.

Do you feel stupid yet?

I hope so.

I always say...when someone wants to make a fool of themselves, get out of the way and let it happen.

I think janitors are considered as employees, not faculty.

Do I need to embarrass you as well? I guess I could provide my UC publication record to shut down people like you permanently.

BTW...how many papers have you published? Are the journals peer-reviewed?

I'll slap mine on the table if you want to compare sizes....

Nebraska is very good. They were good last year but the big ten was down and their schedule didn't get them enough good wins. They are very likely a top 25 team and almost certainly a tournament team.

he does, but I admit my realm is football and I hardly understand basketball. I just want to watch something more fun than Cronin's style.

Sorry...I know it was a sarcastic question.

Yep. Came here to post the same. They're more than legit. Tim Miles is an excellent coach, and Nebraska is one of the most experienced teams in the country. I think they finish top 4 in the Big Ten, and could make some waves in the tourney.

NotDuane - we are the same age if you hit UC straight out of high school. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I do remember much of what you wrote including the bookstore. I stopped in there a couple years ago - being used as some type of library.

Not sure what the beef is on this thread because I personally have boycotted all threads with Duane in the text and simply don't read them.

Apparently BCat #1 doesn't think I've ever attended UC or hold a degree from the instiution, and he's so laughably off the mark that I can't resist twisting the knife a bit further...

Remember beating the Delaware Blue Hens in the 1st round in 92 on the way to the Final Four?

Remember KMart breaking his leg against the GD Billikens (Spoonhour) the year we were stacked and ranked #1 in the country?

Pete Mikeal
KMart
Steve Logan
DerMarr Johson
K Satterfield

Why did Mikeal dissapear in the tourney that year? Never figured that out.

Did you know Eric Hicks played here professionally last year for the Kentucky Enforcers? (ABA)

Ahhh...memories....

All until NZ appeared and shat on everything.

I've never met a true academic who felt it necessary to troll alumni. I can't fathom why you get pleasure from ruining the board experiences of others.

Bumping the hoops thread. It's been a damn fun day of rivalry games (including UK losing a heartbreaker!). And how 'bout the American? Some solid scalps today. Memphis beat a decent UAB, Houston beats Okie State on the road, and Tulsa knocks off a ranked K-State. Looking to be a better conference than many expected this year.

I have always thought Mike Dunleavy was a crap coach. I think Tulane needs a young coach with ties to the area that can get some solid recruits.

De Ja Vu all over again?

In 2001-2002 Cincy lost their season opener to Okie St. They didn’t lose again until Feb 2. Twenty straight wins climbing to #4 in the AP. Wins over that streak? Include UNLV, Xavier, Miss St. Next up this season? Miss St.

They lost in double overtime to UCLA in the Tourney.

Beat Miss St...then payback!!
