I stopped watching Fox at about 10pm because of Chris Wallace. He was trying hard to manufacture the house races being due Trump. Even though Trump was campaigning more specifically for senate races in his rallies, and republicans seriously overperformed in the senate. Also, some of the house races that were lost is where the candidates distanced themselves from Trump.

The fact that they were talking about how Gillum was about to become governor, without realizing that polls in the panhandle hadnt even closed yet, just showed they were a waste of space. At least Brit would force his way into the conversation to remind them of that fact every now and then.

Who was the dude on Fox - blue suit, big body, giant head, but with tiny eyes? What a weirdo.

Yup. That's when I utilized the mute button. Wallace gonna Wallace. Dumb take after dumb take.

I think Wallace was correct though overall. There were a number of centrist Dems that ran in the swing states that pulled out victories in conservative districts (like Connor Lamb in PA) - but we also saw a significant change in the voting patterns of the suburban areas in VA, parts of TX among others that went blue. I think the suburban women were turned off by Trump's behavior and that was it. They didn't consider his accomplishments - just his behavior IMHO. And I think that was a messaging problem for the GOP because the economy should have been the centerpiece of their campaigns - not illegal immigration.

Republicans have had messaging problems forever, excluding 1994. That was the one time they got on message and stayed on it, and as a result they won their biggest electoral victory probably ever. Democrats are always going to win identity politics, primarily because they have 90% of the MSM in their pockets. The perceived personality of a candidate can be largely shaped by media, but they have a harder time changing issue positions that have been taken.

RE: OFFICIAL Senate Race Results Thread
I think the RNC looked at the numbers, realized they had no realistic shot at keeping the House but would probably gain at least a seat or two in the Senate, focused on the winnable Senate seats and banked the rest of the money for 2020. This is a typical midterm election result. Nothing astronomical about it on either side. This was neither an endorsement or indictment of the President's policies, just a typical midterm election with higher than normal voter turn out on both sides.

PA was gerrymandered this cycle for democrats. And they still appear to have underperformed where they wanted to be.

Looks like the Trafalgar poll is the only one to get it right in the Senate Polls so far. Pretty much nailed them too.

Yes. Tester won.

Is that the only race where Trump spent heavy campaign time in the state and lost? I know he stumped for a few of the house candidates, but he didn't do a ton of campaigning for them, mostly focused on keeping the senate.

Yep. Something to watch in 2020 in swing states, can any of the independent candidates take unhappy voters from the Dem or GOP side, and if so, which sides centrists are more likely to go independent?

They were also the only poll to predict Trump's wins in Michigan and Pennsylvania. I'll be trusting that poll moving forward.
