In the same vain, here is an old VHS copy I uploaded of the Chuck Swenson show from my era (1993-94). I'm not sure if the link still works.

Well, I was on a good vain until.....
We've certainly endured the good, the bad, and the ugly. Go Tribe!

Alright, here's my contribution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dD0TAO22jpM , the amazing 2007-2008 CAA Tournament run.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LXaJhiKWnA

Okay, this second one is more for the guy who shows up at the :30 mark, next to Jay Colley, while Danny Sumner is dribbling. He's wearing a yellow sweater and green slacks, and, of course, doing all of Jay's set up work... 03-melodramatic

The Shaver interview is interesting, too.

The AD should corral all of these videos (and probably many more) and put them all on the TribeAthletics Youtube page. The history and tradition of our athletic programs is one thing that we have to put us head and shoulders above many newer midmajor programs and should be used heavily as part of our brand.

I also had never seen this clip before. I was living in northern Virginia at the time and the only radio broadcast I could get of this game was on the UVa network. W&M led the whole game until UVa took a one point lead very late in the game (as shown in the video). The UVa announcers were yukking it up and acting like the game was over. Then, at the game winning shot, the announcers were completely speechless. However, I knew what was happening because of the tremendous roar of the crowd. Since that day, UVa has never again come to the Hall (I think).

On the Chuck Swenson show, it is amazing how young Jay Colley was.

On the 2007-2008 CAA tourney run, it is amazing how young Tony Shaver was.

Lastly, I really liked the video from 1975 (my freshman year). Did you get a load of those striped pants that the basketball players were wearing!!

Man, that video brought back a flood of memories.
I had a couple classes with President Graves daughter (very nice person) and I certainly remember the styles of that era.
Thanks for sharing.

...in front of a packed William and Mary Hall. No doubt, many Cavaliers fans but still. So many students at that game. We need that again.

Did Ralph Samson play in that game?

No. That was the team with Olden Polynice. The crowd threw (term) papers out on the court. Polynice had been accused of cheating just prior to that game. He rejected Herb Harris' shot allowing Coval to make the shot (no three pointers, but it was good from deep).

Seeing the wonderful video of a young John Randolph, then track coach, brought back many, many memories of John... a remarkable leader, advocate of W&M, and friend. You went far too early, John.

Here's hoping for a repeat 54-12 final score against Richmond in two weeks.

If the video of that buzzer beater vs UVA doesn't get you ready for tomorrow night, I'm not sure what does!

Speaking of styles of the era, I know this gets off the basketball theme, but it does reinforce how often The Hall was sold out for great events in the 70/80's. February 22, 1976, I was 4th row center here. Same year as the Carter/Ford presidential debate on October 22nd at PBK and their stroll down a wall to wall DOG St. Love to see Kaplan packed as much and as often again.

I really enjoyed watching the 1975 commitment to excellence video.

It bothered me though. 43 years removed and I hear the same mission statement and see the funding struggles that I heard 20 years ago- 10 years ago- and today. With all the athletic ups and downs over the years, it seems that we have stayed in a perpetual neutral. We never fall too far but we don't get over the hill.
