Thats horrible, but isn't this part of the non-D1 scheduling strategy though. Since its a non-D1 team, it wont count in the rpi, right?

RPI is no longer an evaluation criteria so it doesn't matter. Kenpom does though, and I noticed UTSA's current SOS is tied for dead last at 213. So yeah, didn't do them or us any favors by scheduling this game.

Not good at all, especially considering that they were expected to be at least a mid level team in CUSA this season. Did they have several key injuries or suspensions for the game that led to this happening?

Too bad it's at FIU. They (J&W) must have the best concession stand ever.

At least if they lose they can get a do-over.

RE: CUSA Basketball
At least this thread is making me laugh. To keep from crying over the fact that CUSA can't figure out this basketball scheduling thing. What part of schedule decent teams, at least DI teams, is so hard to get? We gripe about ODU playing MEAC teams. That's infinitely better than DII teams. Even the Ladies don't play outside DI, except for exhibition.

RE: CUSA Basketball
There's nothing impressive about beating Hofstra. We lost one road game with a brand new team. Can we stop with the hyperbole?

Really wish the conference would put something in place to stop this scheduling.
Opening Day!!!
Lees McRae @ MTSU - who? oh, you know, that 1,000 student school in NC repping D2
St Leo @ Rice - another D2 school
Angelo State @ North Texas - yet another D2 school
Southeastern Baptist College @ Southern Miss - sweet, a school that hasn't had basketball for the past 30 years! I don't even know what division they are in
Texas Permian Basin @ UTEP - shocker, another D2 school
So half of the CUSA games on Tuesday are not even against D1 competition, this needs to stop!!! D1 games only please!! D2 is fine for an exhibition, but when the games count you should be playing one of the other 352 Division 1 programs...it's not that hard.
Kudos to WKU and La Tech for scheduling #25 Washington and Wichiita St respectively.
Looks bad....
...until you see JMU's schedule. 2 DIII schools out of their 5 home OOC games (these are real games, not exhibition). Ouch!!!
We beat ECU in between the DIII's
Our AD, Jeff Bourne thinks that winning is all that matters, never mind the competition is DIII. JMU would schedules High Schools and tout the winning percentage.
The scheduling strategy is known as the weak, the poor and the Bourne. No P5s on the schedule this year.
A new $90M basketball arena opens in 2020. we need a few headliner home games.

RE: CUSA Basketball
Glad that the other CUSA teams won who were just mentioned. Road wins against D1 teams are always a plus. In our case, we lost to a favored team on the road so I see no reason at this point to be concerned. To paraphrase an old quote, “It’s all about the Jimmy’s and Joe’s”. We’ll see over the course of the season if we have the Jimmy’s and Joe’s...
