CUSA Basketball
ahh, the start of hoops season! Time for my yearly gripe...
Really wish the conference would put something in place to stop this scheduling.
Opening Day!!!
Lees McRae @ MTSU - who? oh, you know, that 1,000 student school in NC repping D2
St Leo @ Rice - another D2 school
Angelo State @ North Texas - yet another D2 school
Southeastern Baptist College @ Southern Miss - sweet, a school that hasn't had basketball for the past 30 years! I don't even know what division they are in
Texas Permian Basin @ UTEP - shocker, another D2 school
So half of the CUSA games on Tuesday are not even against D1 competition, this needs to stop!!! D1 games only please!! D2 is fine for an exhibition, but when the games count you should be playing one of the other 352 Division 1 programs...it's not that hard.
Kudos to WKU and La Tech for scheduling #25 Washington and Wichita St respectively.

RE: CUSA Basketball
This is what happens when you want home games but don't give your bball program a real buy-game budget.

Total trash. Glad all the money the conference spent on a consultant to come in and tell everyone how important it was to schedule better payed off.

Well, it will pay for the top teams because they will have more meaningful games and less games against trash.

RE: CUSA Basketball
Thought the reasoning behind this is that non-D1 games don't count toward RPI. Playing against a bottom half RPI team lowers your RPI even if you win. I think these schedules are the leftovers of a way to rig against RPI even though the committee has now come out to say they will no longer be using RPI... so hopefully these schools will chill out now with the non-D1 games after this year.

Not sure when the games were scheduled, but I think you are correct.

That's what their fans on here will say. The reality is, they need cheap home games because they don't budget for it at the appropriate level.

Desean Murray not playing right now. Suspended indefinitely after getting arrested. 3rd player suspended this week, but I think Murray is the only one out.

The ODAC wouldn't want to dilute their basketball that much.
That whole AAC discussion was a result of a friggin North Dakota State writer saying the puke would be a good fit for the AAC. I'm guessing that no one affiliated with FCS cares about TV markets..... But the AAC does. And the gullible pukes just drank the Kool-Aid! Cracks me up. But who am I to talk logic. Maybe, just maybe the AAC wants to lock up the radio airwaves along Interstate 81 for that Winchester to Staunton stretch!

RE: CUSA Basketball
over 100 teams open their seasons against a non D1 school in the next few days. that's just this week. many more are scheduled throughout Nov/Dec.
right or wrong, annoying as it is....it's really not that uncommon anymore.
and i think it's because the NCAA doesn't allow those exhibition games anymore. So now teams are scheduling a "preseason" game against a D2 as a for the record tuneup, as opposed to the true exhibition game it used to be a few years ago.
