Monday Musings
I hope we get into the quick lane bowl. could be a fun day downtown Detroit after christmas with fellow emu alums and fans.

Any chance that Jeff Long as Kansas interviews Creighton? Could be worrisome.

Expecting big things out of the Men's basketball team this winter. I try to go to two-three saturday games a year.

Can CMU rebound after this disastourous campaign? they need a qb bad.

Dear fanfrompowellspub,
Personally, I hope Central does not rebound, but continues its losing ways. The bowl game you mentioned would be great, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.

Playing in Detroit could be so beneficial for in-state recruiting, especially if CMU continues the downward spiral. I said Potato Bowl in August, so I'll stick with it....

I'm thinking (hoping) that CC would not make such a move to Kansas - with the new football building and continued improvement in recruiting the next few years could be interesting. If its about the $$$ then he could be out, but I don't get that impression from him.

Don't see a change in Dismal Flats until Bono is fired. It's clear he makes poor decisions regarding staff, and if it weren't for the U-M graduate player pipeline his past few years would have been much less successful. So by all means keep in place!

I can't see Creighton going anywhere, or any big programs being seriously interested...yet. He's done a great job turning the program completely around, which seemed impossible as recently as 4 years ago. But his overall record here is still pretty bad and he hasn't had more than 7 wins in any season. We understand why his record is what it is, but I don't know if a BCS fan base would buy that on the surface.

If we can keep Glass healthy all year next year and win at least 8 or 9 games, then I'd start to anticipate the big boys calling. Neathery, on the other hand, is one we might need to worry about sooner rather than later. Imagine where we would be without our defense this season...

I thought he was from Kansas. My other thought is his reputation turning around programs plus he probably could be had for under a million a year which is cheap vs other p5 coaches.
However Kansas AD Jeff Long tends to try to go for home run hires and has usually whiffed. with wannestandt at pitt, petrino and his motor cycle at arkansas, and bielma at arkansas

Nail on Head.

Also, in the Big 12, you've got to score a lot of points to win. Long will likely be looking for the next young offensive 'guru' to lead the program. Not sure anyone would be too impressed with the 5 year Creighton/EMU offensive numbers. Not saying he's the OC and directly responsible for the play calling, but as part of the bigger picture, if you're looking for offense, probably not gonna work.

Dead spot on Sam. Neathery is the man! He would also be more palatable to a P5 program fan base than a MAC head coach with a sub .500 record.

Kansas is hardly a program with high expectations but I don't think Long would risk hiring Creighton right now. Our best ally might be our old buddy PJ Fleck who turned down Purdue for the better job at Minnesota. PJ is playing Purdue this weekend and likely on his way to a 1-8 Big Ten record.

RE: Monday Musings
Kansas right now reminds me of us when we hired Ron English. They really appear to think that a coaching switch will reenergize recruiting and build a better program. I think what we ultimately learned was that the fix starts with the entire Athletic Department. Creighton has been great, but his success isn't just with him. It was a patient replacement of the entire culture, mixed in with a few gimmicks that made the program unique (and some really big investments in facilities).
