From FootballScoop.com. Got to agree with them.

I agree. Remarkable job.

Over on a Marshall board we are arguing about our facilities. My comment was that facilities are an excuse used by ADs and coaches who can't get it done. Clark wins playing in a dump stadium with little else in the way of facilities.

If you can coach, all you need is a place to lift weights and a place to play your games. Clark could win in a cow pasture with his players having nothing but cinder blocks to work out with.

re:facilities: We opened a new "indoor" practice facility before the return. I say "indoor" because it is legitimately just a large pavilion over the main practice field. It allows mother nature to control the temp so that the players get acclimated to the heat, but don't die from heat strokes in the summer. South Alabama has since copied our design. Our facilities included an old dentist office for a weight room and coaches offices and the D3 school up the road had better practice turf than we did. [Mcgee (2012-2013) regularly used the fields at Birmingham Southern College rather than practicing at the dentist office, Clark refused] Our football team regularly worked out in the student center during summer workouts during my time there. The students had better equipment than the dentist office did. All these issues with the practice facilities have now been fixed. Our practice facility is worthy of a FBS school now.

Yes he should be. Great coach.

I do wonder what 2019 looks like for UAB after losing 37 seniors.

Absolutely he should be. He stayed with the program when most coaches would have taken another job and he built a very strong team. Congrats to him and to UAB.

The results speak for themselves. Take that total eclipse against Coastal Carolina and you have to give him the award today.

First to all UAB fans for what its worth UAB "is" a rival for Southern Miss. You are our closest rival in many ways. UAB is a charter member of CUSA and did regularly hand Memphis, Cinn., ECU, ect. their azzes back in the day. For this you must receive the respect of many USM fans. I have stated before that it is UAB's destiny to win a CUSA title this year.
As for Bill Clark, hold on to this guy because he is a rare commodity these days. I would vote for him as COTY. Good luck Blazers this week will be another epic game in a already great series. Southern Miss To The Top!

Well, Bill Clark may be a well deserved Corch of the Year...but UAB is a rival to USM the same way UNT or UTEP would be, in the sense they are in our conference, therefore a "rival".

Marshall and La tech would be the closest thing to a "rival" right now, since our "real" rivals, E. Carolina, Houston, Tulane and Memphis (and to a lesser extent, OP) avoid us like the plague.

You can't just manufacture a "rivalry"...and just because UAB has inexplicably handed us our azzzes on a silver platter lately, doesn't mean they are a "rival"...

Sorry04-cheers

If you or some other crazed USM fans think its not a rivalry then you must be blind.

USM leads the all time series 10-6. But then again USM did win the 1st 9 meetings. Since then the worm has turned and UAB has won 6 of the last 7 meetings.

As far as Clark winning the national coach of the year it won't happen. They will give it to someone who gets their roster stacked each year with 4 and 5 star players.

Clark should definitely be national coach of the year. He's having remarkable success literally doing something that's never been done before.

I hope we can hold on to him for a long time. He'll surely get offers, but part of me thinks he wants to be coaching the first game in our new stadium since he worked so hard to make it happen.

You're probably right. Though he didn't win the "real" national coach of the year award last season, CBS Sports named him their national coach of the year so UAB paid out his bonus for winning that award which was good to see.

I saw after the UTSA game that Clark has racked up $60k in bonus money so far this year with likely more on the way.

As I've said before, La Tech and Marshall are the only teams in C-USA that may be our "rivals"...

Most of the programs on here did not schedule a Memphis for 50 straight years, or a Tulane and ECU for 30 straight years...so you did not have steadfast rivals strengthened through years of on-field "combat". Sure, they don't give us the time of day now, but you just don't look at the schedule, seek a team out that is the closest to you, OR, has been kickin' your azzz lately and say, "Hey! they are our main rival now!"

U-Aye-Bay may be a USM rival one day...and a few "crazed" USM fans may agree thay are right now...but I can tellya they ain't right now.
