RE: UCF one step closer to hosting ESPN College Gameday... per source
I cant imagine they would come. I honestly cant remember Game Day ever having a openly hostile crowd--and thats what they would have there. The only way they could pull it off is if they open up the show by walking back a lot of what they have said and hammer the existing CFP system for having no legitimate path for a G5. That said---I thought it was an interesting development that all three ESPN commentators calling the UCF-Temple game all agreed there is no path for a G5 in the current CFP system during a discussion near the end of the contest. Is it possible the ESPN narrative shifting?

The media attention is new ground for UCF fans but not for Gameday. They’ve gotten 10x the hate from every big time fan base outside of Tuscaloosa. And in reality, most of our internet talkers will hardly boo in person and it will be a feisty but fun crowd that should look great on tv.
They are good at getting applause from the audience by having certain prepared exclamations ready to go. “How about this turnout?!” People will melt.
Anyway looks like it’s going to happen so this is pretty exciting!

Brandon (UCF Rivals) on GAMEDAY at UCF:
If ESPN Gameday came to UCF, they'd pretty much have to interview Danny White on set and they want no part of him talking about the cartel, the flawed invitational process and the need for fairness and inclusion. As TV partners of the CFP, I'm sure they're concerned about that.

ESPN will not have gameday at UCF vs a ranked UC. It gives too much credence to the AAC in a time they want the price of the tv contract driven down, not up.
Also, Herbie would quit before he has to sit at that Gameday desk on UCF's campus surrounded by hoards of UCF fans and their signs. You can forget it.
Cuse being ranked vs ND in NY gives them an acceptable 'out'. Time Square is a cool location, it's ND, and they are playing a ranked P5 team. So it doesn't look like a bad choice per say. If cuse was unranked, it would be tougher to pull off without looking like you were trying.

It would be like Bernie Sanders showing up at an NRA convention.
That's what we in the business call "some good TV right there."

Times Square? I'm sorry, but NYC is not college football country. There will be tourists, not fans. No signs, no nothing. That's not the type of crowd gameday wants.

Time Square is a cool site. They have done it before.
And none of that matters...its an out to not have to be at UCF.
