I've been to games there. It should have been hit with a wrecking ball a decade ago.

No I don't. I know that stadium well also. Maintenance has been completely ignored for years. But I do think what Coach Clark is able to sell to recruits is working well. And if all he had was our 20k seat stadium about to go to 21k, he'd be working with a lot less than he is right now.

Let's not change the subject. You said Legion was easier to sell to recruits than Foreman because of capacity and history. But how does one sell the history of Legion without selling Alabama and Auburn?

Legion Field with about 4x the capacity and all of its bowl games (including many high stakes Iron Bowls) is still a much better sale to recruiting football players, IMO. Even as a very old, off-campus dump of a stadium.

No this is exactly what I said and still believe every word. I don't need to change the subject. It is the truth and you should try rereading every word before confusing yourself.

To sell the history and talent of Legion, you have to sell the Iron Bowl. That's selling Auburn and Bama.

By the way, they had 17k (or 24% of their capacity) announced attendance last weekend.

RE: UAB
But to your earlier comment, what is ODU selling in Foreman Field? Oyster Bowls that VT and/or W&M played in? Behold the Green and Gold over 20 years?

To call Foreman Field a beauty compared to Legion Field is tremendously biased at best. I'm just here to bring reason to the comparison. And I really don't think I needed to name Alabama, Auburn, or the many large programs that played in Birmingham Bowls, Outback Bowls, or Hall of Fame Bowls in there to make that point.

Our endzone facility is nicer than anything in Legion.

And while they have capacity on us, our crowd sounds and looks better. Having been in a large empty legion, it looks like the fans could care less when their support is about equal to ours.

I presume they were being sold a combination of the new stadium and the (until now) sellouts at Foreman. They may have mentioned Oyster Bowls as to why Foreman is historic instead of merely old, but I can't imagine they pushed hard on that.

But Legion Field isn't exactly a peach either; that's why they're replacing it. They'll never sell it out, and quite frankly they probably won't sell out the new stadium unless, a) they're ranked or b) they're playing a big rival/ranked opponent. I'd be willing to wager that the facilities they're selling is the new muni stadium and the IPF. Can't imagine Legion's history is that much of a selling point to today's recruits, unless they're related to guys who played in Iron Bowls.

If you believe recruiting rankings, they are recruiting about the same as we are. Don't think either have a ton to sell in terms of facilities.

Good luck. I just love the Monarchs and want them to have all the luxuries and advantages of their peers, in any sport. Nothing wrong with that.

So what you're saying, is that they are coaching and developing better than us. I could see that.

I wish it was that simple, but over the past 2 years they have been better than us for sure.
