I've been dreading this one, this is the perfect spot for Middle to pull a 'Middle'

My advice to Middle fans. If there’s any way possible go to this game. My wife and I combined a vacation out west with this game last year. Their stadium is truly unique. Kinda built into the side of a mountain. Their campus is every bit as hilly as Western’s. The architecture on campus is also very unique and quite a sight. The weather was gorgeous.

With the way conferences split up who knows if you’ll ever have a chance to attend a game with your team out there again. Pretty famous stadium from hosting the Sun Bowl.

We also took in the Cattleman’s Steakhouse at Indian Cliffs Ranch. Probably around a half an hour from campus. No exaggeration. The best steak I’ve eaten in my life. Long wait on a Friday night but worth it.

We did back into a win there by a score of 15-14. But even if we had lost I would still consider the trip a win.

Glad you enjoyed your trip and steaks always taste better when you win. Of course your team won after you ate the steak but that probably influenced your memory a bit. By the way, did the EP chamber of commerce reimburse you for those kind words?

I agree. I went to a SBC game between MT and NMSU. Drove right past the Sun Bowl on my way to Las Cruces. Beautiful setting. And Cattleman's was the absolute bomb.

If pulling a Middle is similar to Cooging it ala Houston, then by all means let's have some of that. Playing your rival WKU this past week, then at UTEP followed by a big game at Kentucky, seems to set that up.

However, even though UTEP is an improving team they still have a long way to go to get to the level of MT.

No need by the EP chamber of commerce to reimburse. I love travelling out west. When you’ve grown up on this side of the Mississippi the majority of your life I like seeing different. When I was in the Marine Corps I spent time out in Yuma and of course some time in California. I love the west. Not sure I will ever live out there simply because so much family here.

I might have been influenced by the over an hour wait as I was ready to gnaw my fist for sustenance. I got one of the T-Bones and my wife had a Filet. It was the tastiest steak I’ve eaten in my life. And I’m generally a guy that lives by the credo that it’s all gonna end up tootsie roll so why overpay.

We didn’t get there until Friday afternoon. I called them to see what the approximate wait was and the girl on the phone was pretty much tryna talk me out of coming telling me how slammed it was and no guarantee to get in. But I went anyway and was glad of it.

I LOVED the campus architecture. After breakfast Saturday morning I did my normal campus recon so when it got closer to gametime I’d be able to roll up in the most efficient manner. It was a nice crisp late October morning and I enjoyed the hell out of it. There’s nothing like that Western blue sky in my opinion.

We headed out Sunday morning for White Sands and the Grand Canyon so I didn’t really get a good shot with El Paso and regret that but our trip was pretty tightly scheduled.

I’ve been paying attention and UTEP been getting a little better each week. Middle might be in trouble.

As you know, we have TTT'ing at USM...glad other places feel the same about their programs screwing the pooch..

Quick MT TD followed by quick UTEP turnover.

MT leads 27-10 at half at UTEP.

Brent 25-of-32 for 241 yds and 3 TD's against a salty UTEP defense.

Should be 31-0. Four major snafus in the MT kicking game.

Missed an extra point and a 40 yd FG.

Stupid failed fake punt with a personal foul penalty gave UTEP plus field position that UTEP easily converted into a TD.

And then MT tries to squib kick right before half and instead basically went the distance of an onside kick giving UTEP a FG right at the half.

That was such a weird play for many reasons. We were up 14 pts, we had 10 yards to go (probably not the best situation to run a fake), and it's uncharacteristic for Stockstill to call trick plays like that.

It wasn't a fake. Our idiot coaches have a man running motion in punt formation for some reason and the deep snapper snapped into his legs as he was running by for a fumble.

All 18 points for UTEP today directly set up by a major MT special teams mistake.

So, did we take out our first and second string in the beginning of the 4th Quarter or is Stockstill afraid he will offend the Miners Fans, or are we just that inept in how to close out a win?

Yep. Starters back in now. Ridiculous they were pulled so soon.

Penthouse to Outhouse. Our young FG Kicker gets CUSA Special Teams Player of the Week last week with 5 field Goals and this week can't hit the broad side of a Barn. Thank God it didn't matter this week. It is gonna matter one of these Saturdays.
