Clark's Contract...
...the 'Catch-22' of success... just wondering if any info is afoot that the 'powers that be' are working on bolstering Coach's take-home for next year... I feel he will be here to lead us into the new stadium in 2021, but it never hurts to keep sweetening the pot...

It's in the works.

It might help if people got their butts in the stands to show support of this program over other programs.

If Clark gets offered a job at a school that he thinks he can turn into a playoff contender he is gone. He wont leave for a Kansas type program but if North Carolina comes calling we might be in trouble.

considering it was up against the biggest game of the year I thought we did well. Our hard core fanbase is now 17k. five years ago we would have had 6k.

Definitely need to increase his base pay and give him an extension. I did see he's already earned $60k in bonus money this year with more on the way.

I find it laughable that some say that Kansas should go after Clark.
There was a program that Clark once said could be the next Boise State.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Clark isn't likely to go anywhere before he gets to see his team playing in the stadium he was instrumental in seeing approved and helped design. When he does decide to leave, it will be to go to a team in a good conference that allows a legit chance to play for championships. He won't go to a weak sister even if it triples his salary, and he won't leave for anything but a head coaching job.
The wild card is the UA BoT. UAB looking so good wasn't in their plans. Anything that takes any shine from bammer is a threat, even if they are having an all-time year. I suspect from the rumblings that I'm hearing that the pressure is already on Ingram and Watts to screw with Clark and try to make him want to leave.

What?
Kansas has a bigger upside than North Carolina right now. I don't think Clark would take a job at either of those schools, tbh.

RE: Clark's Contract...
I'm sure that if UAB finishes this season as it has so far, there will be a movement to enhance his income package. How much will depend upon the deep pockets of our corporate backers, not our attendance figures.
Now once UAB gets into the new BJCC stadium and begins to collect premiums similar to those same relative location seats at Bartow Arena (as well as higher ticket prices) , attendance will have an effect on coaching pay levels.
As Band Dad said, The System BOT is indeed a "wild card" since we can't know for sure how much their recent support (since a certain guy left) for our program is really long term. If they have really grown up as a UA System governing body (rather than only a Crimson one), we may be able to rest a lot more comfortably with our successes. It will be some time before we quit waiting for "another shoe to drop".

RE: Clark's Contract...
Someone mentioned his comment this could be the next Boise State. I have no inside knowledge, AND EVERYTHING I'M POSTING IS GREEN KOOL AID, but if he is the student of the game I think he is, he's noticed when the coaches at Boise left, for where and their level of success.
The guy who established the program (Dan Hawkins) left for Colorado. The program had been flailing for several years, really since Bill McCartney left. . After 4 losing seasons he spent 7 years out of coaching before taking UC Davis.
His successor Chris Petersen rode the wave for 7 years winning multiple coach of the year awards until he got the job he wanted, Washington, a perennial Pac 10 contender that had fallen since Don James retired. He's 43-19 in 5 years, and seems to be succeeding. He had several offers to leave before he took the Washington job, but waited until he was going somewhere with a reasonable expectation of the same level of success he had at Boise.
Coach Clark is in his 3rd year. He's on the verge of having a team and a program that could follow Boise's footsteps. In what will be his sixth year he'll be moving into a new stadium. Imagine several years as a contender for national coach of the year, building a real program, no speculation that he's a flash in the pan. I hope he stays forever, but if he stays through 2021 at that point it won't be Ole Miss or Vanderbilt calling, but someone who can win big. It would be tough to be upset if he took a move like that.
In the meantime, money whip that butt.

Unless, Alabama offers him a 5mill contract does not seem like to much to worry about. He is a UAB man and wants that new Stadium, and looks like he will get it.
On the opposing side NC. State would be a good place to Land. They have the NC State Nation, if it did happen who would be the replacement for him - with what the Blazers have, I could name a few that would desire to take the job. Is Cale Gundy Available.

Precisely. And that’s why we have to be Ever Faithful, Ever Vigilant. They’re not done with us yet. It won’t be too difficult for Fumbles to announce Neil Callaway 2.0 as the replacement coach. Go to games, buy tickets, support the Foundation, and keep giving them hell.

I agree with you. Possible openings and my thought if Coach Clark would be interested.
Maryland-------No
Kansas----------No
Rutgers---------No
Illinois-----------Doubtful
Louisville----------Yes (Purdue's Jeff Brohm would be favorite)
North Carolina -----Yes
Oklahoma State-------Doubtful
GA Tech (if coach retires)-----Yes
Ohio State------------They would want a bigger name
Kansas State----No
Seems to always be a surprise. The domino effect could happen also.
