Flyover
Seems like VT can have a flyover for most every game. Is ODU not connected enough, not important enough, or doesn't have the pull to get the NAVY or AF to flyover the stadium ? When are we going to have a REAL flyover by fighter jets ? Maybe the last game of Foreman field should have a flyover ?

I like how VT has the ROTC cadet's section wish ODU did that.

I agree they have a large ROTC cadet program but so do we and we are one of the highest rated Vet / Military friendly Universities. Plus we give a tuition discount to the military and we can't even get a flyover with real jets.

The students to which you are referring are members of VT's very storied Corps of Cadets. They are not just ROTC members.

Ya. It is on a different scale. Google their new upper quad renovations and the new Pearson hall. I think they have as many enrolled now or close to it as we've had graduate total since inception.

RE: Flyover
But yes we are very military friendly as one would expect given our location and history. But we aren't graduating hundreds of officers I don't believe.

One in four students at ODU have ties to the military.

RE: Flyover
I guess it's probably all about the $. It ain't free to fly a jet over and VT has it in spades compared to us.

And logistically it might be easier there than here given the volume of air traffic vs Blacksburg.

Maybe Im wrong, but I would think it would be much cheaper to fly from Oceana to ODU and back. One would hope they might even do it for free to be a good neighbor since it'd only be a few minutes trip.

RE: Flyover
A flyover would be unnecessary since most residents see military aircraft in the air very often.

This year, HR was the only place in the US where you could attend an FBS college football game and a Blue Angels airshow in the same weekend.

Hmmmm...and why during that airshow all day long could'd they take 10 minutes and fly over our stadium ? All it takes is a little coordination.
