While walking into the convo yesterday, the team was scrimmaging a team of EMU basketball alumni. All were present expect for Minnie. He was sitting on the opposite side of the bench with his ankle wrapped and elevating it on a roller. Hopefully not serious and just precautionary.

Agreed! I doubt we will need him until Duke but certainly don't want Duke to be his first court time.

Bummed that Drexel is projected to be in the CAA basement this year. I remember them being a strong mid major in the 2000s.
Hope they enjoy the sound of 1000 kids screaming their heads off. Education Day never disappoints!

I am taking a long lunch to go over and watch the game. I heard more like 3000-3500 kids. Aspirin please.

Yup sorry. We likely will be one of your weakest opponents this season. Lining up to be a long one for us. We are in year 3 of a new coach. We started to show flashes last season but we lost quite a bit of that talent including a grad transfer heading to St Louis. A lot of unknown with this squad this season. We will shoot a lot of 3's and play at a fast pace. Quite different from the grind it out style Drexel squads through 2012 that were tough to beat.

Awesome! Matt Dery was fun to listen to back when he was with Valenti and Foster. Knowledgeable guy that can keep up with Chad. The broadcasts will be smooth.

I remember the year you guys won like 19 in a row and lost in the CAA title game, yet STILL didn't get an at-large bid. The selection committee loves mediocre P5 teams instead of hungry mid majors, for whatever reason. Such a sham.
Best of luck on Friday. I hope your program turns back around.

Dont remind us. That was our best team ('11-'12). Went in expecting big things and hit a bad start down in the Paradise Jam losing the opener to Norfolk State (who that loss kept us out even though they won their conference, got a 15 seed with their future NBA center {Kyle O'Quinn} and promptly upset Missouri). Then lost to ranked UVA and started the season 2-4 and were down and out. Lost January 2nd and never lost again until the conference championship game in Richmond against VCU. Finished 27-6. We were 8-5 and went to win 19 straight. VCU got a 12 seed and upset Wichita State in the first round.
We went to the NIT as a 3 seed and won 2 games and had a 17 point lead with 16 minutes remaining and ended up collapsing, stopping the team from reaching MSG and the final 4. Brutal way to end that season after having aspiration of being an NCAA team. We graduated quite a bit of players and have had one barely winning season since, in 2013. We had a freshman phenom on that team, Damion Lee, who eventually transferred to Louisville as a grad transfer and has made NBA appearances himself.
It has been a rough go at Drexel since that season. That was such a fun team that could have done damage in the NCAA. After the conference realignment the CAA has never quite been as good either. Losing George Mason, ODU and VCU hurt pretty badly. CAA is still a good conference since we picked up College of Charleston but it is a different conference than the hey day of the final four runs from George Mason and VCU.

RE: Game Week: MBB Rochester and Drexel
BTW, most teams have played a game as of Wednesday night. MAC is 9 - 0 including 9 - 0 at home.
Six games were non-D-I the games many teams play instead of an exhibition game or two.
MAC has beaten St. Francis, UDM and Indiana State (3 - 0 vs. D-I).
Teams are moving fulling bore into D-I action starting tomorrow. Lot of tough opponents.

BTW, we need to enjoy the Ws vs Drexel, etc.
We face Duke which beat Kentucky and Kansas which beat MSU. YIKES!!!
In the past we played Kentucky and M S U. Now we go higher.

The Duke game will probably be a blood bath, and there’s no shame in that. They are going to blow out a lot of teams this year. Those freshmen are ridiculous.
