There are a couple of former players that post here I'd be willing to give a shot.

We might as well be playing the Dallas Cowboys.
Gameplan:
Offense: no WR; Gentosi FB, Tyner QB, 3 tight ends; run down the play clock on every down; run every down; zero INT; zero fumbles; zero penalties; Jack Fox.
Defense: stack the box and control their rushing gains (and run clock); empty the bench; play safeties very deep and allow everything else underneath; count on their mercy not to throw on every down and not to continue to throw when up >50 pts.
I have a way to beat the spread against LSU. Once we go on offense, take a knee on first down, then take repeated delay of game penalties until the half is over. The clock will continue to run after each offensive penalty. I guess we have to kneel (or probably run a sneak from our 1-inch line) to start the clock again in the 2nd and 4th quarters.
If Rice can prevent LSU from scoring on the opening drive of either half (whichever one they get to start the half), we can even take them to overtime with this strategy. Just use that offensive strategy on our first possession of each half, and we'll escape without offensive injuries and no worse than an 8-0 loss (maybe 13-0 or 14-0 if we force it to overtime and somehow turn it over for an LSU score). Well, maybe LSU gets as many as 3 TDs if they use their timeouts in each half to force a punt.
Sure, it will set a record for number of penalties against a team, but would you rather be known for being the team that set a record on the number of penalties committed or the one on the losing end of the game that broke the Georgia Tech/Cumberland record score game?

LSU looked pretty bad at home tonight.

Nice try but the refs are one step ahead of you. The rule book prohibits this.
Unfair Acts
ARTICLE 3 - The following are unfair acts:
a - A team refuses to play within two minutes after ordered to do so by the referee
b - A team repeatedly commits fouls for which penalties can be enforced only by halving the distance to its goal line
c - An obviously unfair act not specifically covered by the rules occurs during the game (AR 4-2-1-II and 9-2-3-I)
PENALTY—The referee may take any action he considers equitable, which includes directing that the down be repeated, including assessing a 15-yard penalty, awarding a score, or suspending or forfeiting the game [S27].
My guess is the refs would not allow more than 2 of these in a row. LSU would probably decline the penalty after awhile anyway, and the refs would eventually say you're going to have to play the game or take a forfeit.
If you think taking a forfeit in Baton Rouge would mean (a) Rice would still get paid for the game, and (b) LSU fans would allow the Rice buses to leave the stadium intact, you're crazy.

I had a feeling there would be something like that in there. Nonetheless, mix it up - just try to burn 5 minutes on offense instead of going 3 and out. Give the defense a chance to rest before having to go back out there. Occasionally run a play, then when it comes time to punt from your end zone, take a safety, then take the free kick by Fox from the 20. Forces LSU to drive farther.
I don't know. I hope the boys in blue surprise me and pull off the upset of the ages, upstaging what Stanford pulled on USC all those years ago. But right now, Massey is predicting a 49-0 LSU win, and that's before including today's results. (Though LSU's home loss isn't going to help their power rating.)

The "0" part is almost a foregone conclusion. The "49" will only happen if they decide, for some reason, to show an awful lot of mercy.

They might not mind a chance to rest a bit for the A&M game the week after.

I was at the LSU game yesterday and have watched several of their other games this season, and I honestly don’t think there offense is that great. I’d be more concerned about us scoring 0 than LSU scoring 222.

The new redshirt rule will help to lessen the blow, as LSU takes a look at some new players.
