THE Les Miles? Couldn't afford him.

Actually, it is pretty widely known that we could at the time. Another thing about Kalamazoo that sets this community apart from other MAC communities is that we have the money and the donors. This much was true with Fleck right up until (literally) the 11th hour before he left.

The fact that we still keep playing the what if cards is getting old...

But yes KB had a HUGE paycheck to play with... and she didn’t show us the University was committed to moving the Football program forward... regardless of the smoke in mirrors PJ success we could have made a splash hire and kept us relevant nationally... we didn’t.

We hired the safety valve and in doing so told the entire Bronco nation ready for something better that we were never going to be anything more than a G5 MAC program. That PJ talk about being relevant nationally left with him.

100% agree. WMU will never leave mediocrity.

Bring another big LBer in to help plug the holes and shut down the run. What the heck, even throw in a LBer blitz once in awhile to keep them on their toes.

We can't just sit back in a 4-2-5 and let them pick us apart, because that's what everyone is doing. If you can't overpower them, keep them guessing with stunts and feints. It might be good for a half at any rate and then we can go back to something the DC is more comfortable with-getting run over like a baby carriage on the railroad tracks.

Gatorade was introduced in the Fall of 1965.

I lived in a poor district, it hadn't 'filtered' down to us by 1968 when I played HS ball. We drank water and choked down salt tablets.

RE: Lester
The article says nothing about running the table and playoff.

BTW, did he really say "playoff"? Or did he mean NY6 bowl?

A charitable interpretation is he meant the MAC championship. I don't think he really thought Ohio would be ranked #4 nationally.

If you do really believe that he thought THE playoffs, then you'll have to believe his expectation is that MAC schools can win a national championship, so you'll have to stop complaining about him not having high enough expectations 05-stirthepot

RE: Lester
Either way that's some serious spin. Being voted 1st in a preseason poll doesn't mean expected to run the table, nor does it have any bearing 9 games into the season.

Well crap, they didn’t say we can win the MAC. Come on staff, let’s go drown our sorrows.
