Are you sure? That would not make any sense at all.

Why would he have to sit out? The call has been reversed. Therefore there is no targeting and therefore not sit out the 1st half. The article does not say that but anything else would truly make no sense at all.

RE: How was Wynne's hit targeting
Well this article says he still sits out the 1st half: https://www.daily-chronicle.com/2018/11/...e/ae5ipb1/

No longer a penalty and still can't play the first half. Now that is nothing short of incredible stupid and illogical!

I certainly hope STF is just unloading on the MAC commissioner. This is the dumbest thing that I can remember......

This not a MAC issue, it’s an NCAA issue. While there is discussion on how to modify the rule to allow suspensions to be reversed after a game it currently is not allowed by the NCAA.

Rules should make sense. Enacting a rule that when targeting is reversed and the suspension stands makes no sense, and should never have been enacted that way. Simple logic; targeting is overturned there is no penalty and there should not be a suspension for a non-penalty.

It was the conference that issued the formal announcement regarding the incorrect penalty and ejection. Not sure why the conference would issue a formal announcement if it isn’t their issue.

No matter the entity, this is utterly stupid.

It was the conference that overturned the penalty call and issued the formal announcement.

That is correct and the MAC should get credit for their admission of a mistake, but the rule unfortunately does not give them the authority to overturn the suspension. I only know about this because there was a long discussion about this on XM ESPNU last week because of the LSU player suspended for the first half of the Alabama game tomorrow.

One of the questions is how do you rectify a situation where a player is called for targeting in the first half, immediately serves his suspension in the second half, and then an after game review determines it was not targeting after all.

Thats fine and well understood (you cant give him back the half he lost), but one thing you sure the hell DONT DO is suspend him for a half (of the next game) after the penalty is overturned and the hit ruled to be legal!!!!

It would be like a jail, admitting evidence showed that they wrongfully convicted someone, but still making the innocent, wrongfully, convicted person still serve out his term.
Stupidest thing I have ever heard

They have to go back to the drawing board and fix this dumb rule. Every year in the name of player safety they add dumb rules that effect the game. Don’t think it’s just a MAC thing. It’s an NCAA thing. I’ve seen a lot bad calls over the last couple weeks.
